A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT OF THE HONORARY DESIGNATION/RENAMING
OF STATE ROAD 826/SUNNY ISLES BOULEVARD AS "ANTHONY REZNIK
BOULEVARD"; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO DISTRIBUTE COPIES OF THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on February 10, 2021, Anthony Reznik ("Anthony") an 11-year-old boy, was
struck in a traffic related incident on State Road 826/Sunny Isles Boulevard ("Sunny Isles
Boulevard"), which resulted in his untimely death; and
WHEREAS,Anthony was highly regarded by the residents of the City of Sunny Isles Beach
(the "City") as a promising youth with a bright future; and
WHEREAS, before his tragic passing,Anthony was a student of Norman S. Edelcup/Sunny
Isles Beach K-8 ("SIB K-8"), where he made an impact on many lives; and
WHEREAS, the students of SIB K-8 and the residents of the City have expressed their
support of the honorary designation of Sunny Isles Boulevard as Anthony Reznik Boulevard; and
WHEREAS,State Senator Jason W. B. Pizzo has also expressed his support of the honorary
designation in honor of Anthony; and
WHEREAS, the Florida State Legislature recently passed Senate Bill 160, which included
the honorary designation of Sunny Isles Boulevard as Anthony Reznik Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statute §334.071 provides that a city or county must pass a resolution
in support of a particular honorary designation before road markers are erected; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission would like to honor Anthony Reznik by designating Sunny
Isles Boulevard as Anthony Reznik Boulevard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Support of Honorary Designation.The City Commission hereby expresses support
for the designation of Sunny Isles Boulevard as Anthony Reznik Boulevard.
Section 2. Directions to the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed to distribute copies
of this Resolution to the Florida Department of Transportation, City of North Miami Beach, and
State Senator Jason W. B. Pizzo.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: Express Support for the Honorary Designation of Anthony Reznik
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
On February 10, 2021, Anthony Reznik, an 11-year-old boy, was struck in a traffic related incident on
State Road 826/Sunny Isles Boulevard, which resulted in his untimely death. Anthony was highly
regarded by the residents of the City of Sunny Isles Beach as a promising youth with a bright future
Before his tragic passing, Anthony was a student of Norman S. Edelcup/Sunny Isles Beach K-8, when
he made an impact on many lives.
The City Commission would like to honor the memory of Anthony Reznik by designating Sunny Isle!
Boulevard as Anthony Reznik Boulevard.
