A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE PURCHASE OF A 2022 STARCRAFT SHUTTLE BUS
FROM CREATIVE BUS SALES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED
THIRTY-FOUR THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED ONE DOLLARS ($134,201.00),
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") Community Shuttle Bus program
provides transportation services to residents and visitors seven (7) days per week, and the City
desires to add an additional shuttle bus to its fleet in order to provide effective and efficient
service to the City's residents; and
WHEREAS, Creative Bus Sales has submitted a quote for a 2022 Starcraft Shuttle Bus
("Bus"), that will seat 24 passengers plus two (2) wheelchair stations, and is equipped with a
wheelchair door and step wells, utilizing the State of Oklahoma Contract No. SW0797C; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-13(C) of the City's Purchasing Code, purchases made
under state general service administration contracts, federal, county or other governmental
contracts or competitive bids with other governmental agencies, are exempt from the
competitive bidding requirements set forth in Chapter 62; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase the Bus from Creative Bus Sales, in an amount
not to exceed One Hundred Thirty -Four Thousand Two Hundred One Dollars ($134,201.00),
attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase
of one (1) shuttle bus from Creative Bus Sales, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Thirty -
Four Thousand Two Hundred One Dollars ($134,201.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

MEMORANDUM

RE: Ratify the Purchase of a Shuttle Bus from Creative Bus Sales
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The City purchased a shuttle bus in December 2020, but delivery was delayed by more than a year due
to COVID-19. In July 2022, we received a letter from Texas Bus Sales stating that the bus would bi
delayed for another nine months (270 days). It is not possible for us to wait for the bus without
disrupting our shuttle bus services to our residents. In August, we found a new vendor - Creative Bus
sales - who can deliver the shuttle bus within the next month for an amount not to exceed $134,201.
We are now seeking ratification for the purchase of a new shuttle bus.
The City of Sunny Isles Beach is using a piggyback contract from the State of Oklahoma.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds have been appropriated in account no. 110-6-5440-464200-00000.
