Home My WebLink AboutReso 2023-3456RESOLUTION NO. 2023- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE EXPENDITURE OF BUDGETED FUNDS WITH SOFTWARE HOUSE INTERNATIONAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF COMPUTER RELATED HARDWARE FOR THE CITY'S COMPUTER AND COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED NINETEEN THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED EIGHTY-FOUR DOLLARS AND SIXTY-ONE CENTS ($219,984.61), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach's ("City") current computing and storage platform is approaching the end of its life expectancy and can no longer be supported by replacing individual components; and WHEREAS, the City desires to upgrade the City and Police Department's computing and storage infrastructure; and WHEREAS, Software House International ("SHI") has the ability to provide the necessary servers and data storage devices needed to perform the upgrade ("Services"); and WHEREAS, Sourcewell, a State of Minnesota local government unit and service cooperative, issued Request for Proposals No., 081419, "Technology Catalog Solutions", and awarded the contract to SHI; and WHEREAS, SHI has expressed their ability and desire to provide the Services to the City pursuant to the pricing and terms and conditions under Sourcewell Contract No. 081419-SHI; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 62 of the City's Code of Ordinances, purchases made through intergovernmental cooperative purchasing arrangements or purchasing consortiums organized as a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, provided that such cooperative purchasing arrangements or consortiums provide for a competitive process to select a vendor, are exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures; and WHEREAS, the City staff determined that SHI provided the lowest price and best value and wishes to purchase servers and data storage devices, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Nineteen Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty -Four Dollars and Sixty -One Cents ($219,984.61), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Expenditure. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of servers, data storage devices, and other computer related equipment from Software House @BCL@C4093D4D.doc Page 1 of 2 International, in a total amount not to exceed Two Hundred Nineteen Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty -Four Dollars and Sixty -One Cents ($219,984.61), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption. REASONS: Five years ago, the City consolidated its data center infrastructure utilizing "Hyperconverged" technology from Nutanix. That infrastructure is now five years old and approaching the end of its useful life as our primary computing and storage platform. The attached proposal would replace all of the servers in both of the City's data centers (PD included). The equipment being replaced was originally approved in February 2018 via resolution 2018-2787.
