A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING THE NAMING OF THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 215 185
STREET, f/k/a THE TURNBERRY SALES CENTER, AS "THE SPOT"; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in 2016, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") acquired the property located
at 215 185th Street, f/k/a the Turnberry Sales Center ("TSC'), in the Golden Shores
Neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, on January 15th, 2009, via Resolution No. 2009-1370, the City Commission
established a formal policy and procedure on the naming of public facilities in the City
("Policy"); and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to name the TSC as "The Spot", pursuant to the
Policy.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Naming of City Property. The City Commission hereby declares that the property
located at 215 185th Street be named as "The Spot".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED upon this 16th day of bruary 2023.

RE: Naming of Public Facilities - The Spot
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The city recently took ownership of the property located at 215 185 Street (formally known as the
Turnberry Sales Center). The facility has been repurposed for use by our teen residents and has been
the location of our monthly Teen Talks events. After several conversations with various stakeholders,
staff is recommending that the facility be named "The Spot".
This recommendation is made pursuant to Resolution No. 2009-1370, which established a formal
policy and procedure for naming public facilities.
