Home My WebLink AboutReso 2023-3481RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE PURCHASE OF A 2023 STARCRAFT ALLSTAR MINIBUS FROM CREATIVE BUS SALES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FORTY-EIGHT DOLLARS ($134,548.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") Community Shuttle Bus program provides transportation services to residents and visitors seven (7) days per week, and the City desires to add an additional shuttle bus to its fleet in order to provide effective and efficient service to the City's residents; and WHEREAS, Creative Bus Sales ("Vendor") has submitted a quote for a 2023 Starcraft Minibus ("Minibus"), that will seat 14 passengers plus two (2) wheelchair stations, and is equipped with a wheelchair door and step wells, utilizing the Florida Sheriffs Association Contract No. FSA22-VEH2O.0; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-13 (1) of the City's Purchasing Code, purchases made through intergovernmental cooperative purchasing arrangements or purchasing consortiums organized as a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, are exempt from the competitive bidding requirements set forth in Chapter 62; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase the Minibus from Creative Bus Sales, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Thirty -Four Thousand Five Hundred Forty -Eight Dollars ($134,548.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ratification of Purchase. The City Commission hereby ratifies the purchase of a 2023 Starcraft Minibus from Creative Bus Sales, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Thirty -Four Thousand Five Hundred Forty -Eight Dollars ($134,548.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. REASONS: In accordance with the amended Budget, the City purchased a 2023 Starcraft Allstar, a 14 Passenger, 2 Wheelchair minibus, in an amount not to exceed $122,048.00, utilizing Florida Sheriffs Association Contract No. FSA22-VEH2O.0. Additionally, the city requested the installation of a destination sign an( painting of the bus, in an amount not to exceed $12,300, for a grand total of $134,548.00. As of February 2023, the minibus is scheduled for final delivery in June of 2023 due to a manufacturin@ delay on the front destination sign. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The City provides free Community Shuttle Service 7 days per week with three lines runnin€ simultaneously for the convenience of residents and visitors. With the of this purchase, the transportation division shuttle buses consist of six (6) 24-28 passenger shuttle buses, one (1) 15 passenger van (on loan from CCS), one (1) 14 passenger van, and the 14(12+2) passenger Minibus. Th( minibus and the van(s) will serve for field trips and as backup if a bus were to go out of service due to mechanical disruptions, while maintaining ADA compliance.
