A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A 2022 FORD HYBRID EXPLORER, IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FORTY-FOUR THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED
THREE DOLLARS AND FIFTY-ONE CENTS ($44,803.51); AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in March 2023, the City Commission authorized the Chief of Police to expend
federal forfeiture monies to fund the position of School Resource Sergeant ("SRS"); and
WHEREAS, the SRS will need to a vehicle to perform their duties and responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, Bartow Ford ("Vendor") has a 2023 Ford Hybrid Explorer ("Vehicle") readily
available for purchase; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of the Vehicle will be made utilizing Charlotte County Contract
No. 2021060541; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-13 (C) of the City's Code of Ordinances, purchases
made under state general service administration contracts, federal, county or other
governmental contracts or competitive bids with other governmental agencies are exempt from
the City's competitive bidding requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve the purchase of the Vehicle from the
Vendor, in an amount not to exceed Forty -Four Thousand Eight Hundred Three Dollars and
Fifty -One Cents ($44,803.51).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Vehicle Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the
purchase of a 2023 Ford Hybrid Explorer from Bartow Ford, in an amount not to exceed Forty -
Four Thousand Eight Hundred Three Dollars and Fifty -One Cents ($44,803.51).
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effpz#ve upon adoption.

RE: Authorize Purchase of Vehicle for School Resource Sergeant
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The Police Department is seeking approval to purchase a 2022 Hybrid Ford Explorer for the recently
funded school resource sergeant (SRS). The SRS position will allow our police department to have ;
presence at the school and will supplement the current police officer provided by Miami -Dade Schools
Police. The SRS will be expected to work in conjunction with the Miami -Dade Schools Police Officer tc
serve the students, teachers, and parents as well as participate in educational programs such as DARE
The purchase of the vehicle will be made with Department of Justice forfeiture funds, in an amount
not to exceed $43,479.51, inclusive of all emergency equipment and markings, and through Charlotte
County Contract No. 202100054.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds have been appropriated in account no. 600-3-5210-000000-00000.
