A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 2021-3253 AND APPROVING THE
PURCHASE OF A 2023 FREIGHTLINER 114SD CONVENTIONAL CHASSIS SET BACK
AXEL VEHICLE FROM TAMPA TRUCK CENTER, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-SIX THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FIFTY-FOUR DOLLARS
($126,554.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on October 21St, 2021, via Resolution No. 2021-3253, the City Commission of
the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") authorized the purchase of a 114SD Conventional Chassis
Set Back Axle Vehicle ("Dump Truck") from SBL Freightliner ("Vendor"); and
WHEREAS, after adoption of the Resolution, the Vendor notified City staff that due to
supply chain issues the manufacturer would be unable to furnish the Dump Truck; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to repeal Resolution No. 2021-3253; and
WHEREAS, the City is still in need of purchasing a Dump Truck to service the community
and maintain the high level aesthetics the City is known for; and
WHEREAS, Tamp Truck Center ("TTC"), a leading provider of top-of-the-line trucks, has
advised that they have a contract under Florida Sheriff's Association Co -Op Purchasing Program,
Contract No. FS20-VEH18.0, pursuant to which the City can purchase the Dump Truck; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City's procurement code provisions, purchases made through
intergovernmental cooperative purchasing arrangements or purchasing consortiums organized
as a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities are exempt from the
City's competitive bidding procedures, provided that such cooperative purchasing arrangements
or consortiums provide for a competitive process to select a vendor; and
WHEREAS, TTC has submitted a proposal to the City utilizing the pricing from Florida
Sheriff's Association Co -Op Purchasing Program for a 2023 Dump Truck, in an amount not to
exceed One Hundred Twenty -Six Thousand Five Hundred Fifty -Four Dollars ($126,554.00),
attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of a
Dump Truck from Tampa Truck Center, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty -Six
Thousand Five Hundred Fifty -Four Dollars ($126,554.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do
all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

RE: Approval of Purchase of a Dump Truck from Tampa Truck Center
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending the City Commission approve the attached Resolution.
REASONS:
The City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to purchase a 114SD Conventional CHASSIS set back axle vehic
(dump truck) from Tampa Truck Center, using Florida Sheriff's Association co-op purchasing program
Contract #FS20-VEH18.0. Pursuant to the City's procurement code provisions, purchases made uncle
State, County or other government contracts, or competitive bids with other entities, are exempt from
the City's competitive bidding procedures.
In October of 2021, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution Number 2021-325_2
authorizing the purchase of a new dump truck from Freightliner. However, the vendor did not honor
the purchase order; therefore, the purchase order was closed.
Now, we are rescinding R2021-3253 and replacing the resolution with this request. As such, we think
it would be beneficial if we add this purchase of the dump truck to this agenda, to coincide with the
budget amendment request.
The Public Works current dump truck is a 2005 vehicle in need of repairs and has extreme rust. The
quote for a new City dump truck is an amount not to exceed $126,554.00.
