Home My WebLink AboutReso 2023-3495RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF FOUR (4) 2023 FORD F150 TRUCKS FROM BARTOW FORD, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FORTY-NINE DOLLARS AND FIFTY-SIX CENTS ($232,149.56), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") is in need of purchasing four (4) Ford F-150 Trucks ("F150s") for enhanced traffic enforcement; and WHEREAS, due to high demand as well as supply chain issues, there is a national shortage of vehicles; and WHEREAS, Bartow Ford ("Vendor") has the F150s readily available for purchase; and WHEREAS, the purchase of the F150s will be made utilizing Charlotte County Contract No. 2021000541; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-13 (C) of the City's Code of Ordinances, purchases made under state general service administration contracts, federal, county or other governmental contracts or competitive bids with other governmental agencies are exempt from the City's competitive bidding requirements; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to purchase the F150s from Bartow Ford, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Thirty -Two Thousand One Hundred Forty -Nine Dollars and Fifty -Six Cents ($232,149.56), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of four (4) Ford F150 trucks from Bartow Ford, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Thirty -Two Thousand One Hundred Forty -Nine Dollars and Fifty -Six Cents ($232,149.56), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. RECOMMENDATION: Staff Recommends approval of this Resolution. REASONS: Due to supply chain issues the acquisition of vehicles has been challenging. The Police Department was able to locate four (4) 2023 Ford F150s 44 that will be used by Uniform Patrol Supervisors. ThE purchase of these vehicles will allow us to repurpose vehicles currently being used for newly hired officers. Ford F150s were chosen because of their high ground clearance which will ensure units can traverse the city during inclement weather. These vehicles are also able to drive on the beach easier than other vehicles and will provide the ability to haul items which can be useful. These vehicles are being purchased using Department of Justice forfeiture funds via the Charlotte County contract #2021000541 for an amount not to exceed $232,149.56.
