A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF POLICE RADIOS FROM MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY, IN AN AMOUNT NOTTO EXCEED SIXTY-FIVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED
SEVENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS ($65,578.50), ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT "A; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALLTHINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") is in need of purchasing handheld and in -
vehicle radios for the City's Police Department ("PD Radios"); and
WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County ("County") can supply the desired PD Radios which are
compatible with utilizing the County's 700/800 MHz Regional Radio System for voice radio
communications; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Section 62-13 (G)(9) of the City's Code of Ordinances,
commodities provided by governmental agencies are exempted from the bidding requirements of
the City's purchasing code; and
WHEREAS, the County has expressed its ability to provide the PD Radios; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to approve the purchase of the PD Radios from the County, in an
amount not to exceed Sixty -Five Thousand Five Hundred Seventy -Eight Dollars and Fifty Cents
($65,578.50), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Purchase of Radios. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of the PD
Radios from Miami -Dade County, in an amount not to exceed Sixty -Five Thousand Five Hundred
Seventy -Eight Dollars and Fifty Cents ($65,578.50), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

RE: Purchase of Police Radios from Miami -Dade County ITD-Radii
Communications.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The Police Department is seeking approval to purchase handheld and police vehicle radios from
Miami -Dade County ITD-Radio Communications for an amount not to exceed $65,578.50. The fund
being used to purchase these radios are the aforementioned Department of Justice forfeiture funds.
The vendor, Miami -Dade County, is the sole provider of these radios for agencies within the County.
The radios are needed to ensure that each officer will have a functioning handheld radio which is
essential to their position. Additionally, the vehicle radios are needed for the fleet and the new
vehicles being added to it.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds have been appropriated in account no. 600-3-5210-464150-99504.
