The project includes design of a water management system, including stormwater detention /retention basin; improvements to irrigation, drainage, and utility services; and renovation of golf course fairways, roughs, sand traps, greens, tees, and pathways. Inc. RFQ# 14 -07 -02 I ENGINEERING Equal Opportunity /AfOrrnative Action Employer 22 • +i City of Fort Myers Downtown Riverfront Basin Johnson Engineering was the prime civil engineering consultant or the City of Fort Myers Downtown Detention Easin. The primary purpose ofthe basin is to treat sor mwater in the City's historic downtown area, before discharging to the impaired Tidal Caloosahatchee River which ultimately flows to the Gulf of Mexico. The water quality treatment program Johnson Engineering designed improves health, safety and welfare of the public in contact with the river by reducing pollutants entering the river: The other benefits include creation of valuable waterfront property for new private investment and development opportunities along the basin's edge, resulting in an expected regional economic impact of up to $67 million and up to 370 permanent jobs to help sustain the local economyThe basin serves as a focal point for public gatherings and events to occur on the public spaces designed around the basin. The pathways surrounding the basin provide public access, giving the public opportunity for connectivity to the waterfront, along with passive recreation and healthy living benefits. Educational components of the project contribute to the community's appreciation for natural resouces and education about the human impact on water quality and strategies to improve the existing conditions and sustain the environmental benefits over time. The project redefines general engineering and land planning thinking that intensely developed urban areas are too encumbered and land values too high to accommodate stormwater treatment retrofit projects. This project is proof that water quality improvement projects can be achieved in a downtown location and can be urban design features that promote redevelopment and simulate the economy. ® I Cordova Rodriguez &1ASsoc., Inc. The purpose of this study was to explore the subsurface conditions at the site to enable an evaluation of acceptable foundation systems for the proposed construction. Field work included the drilling of four (4) Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings to a depth of 30 feet below the surface and one SPT boring to a depth of 50 ft. below the surface. Confirmed that the site is suitable for the planned construction when viewed from a soil mechanics and foundation engineering perspective. Provided a geotechnical engineering report detailing subsurface and groundwater conditions at the site. Provided foundation recommendations for both shallow and deep foundation alternatives so that depending on the structural loads, a comparative analysis could be made and the most cost - effective foundation could be utilized. Also provided construction materials testing and inspection services which included concrete and soil testing as well as fireproofing and roofing inspections. RFQ# 14 -07 -02 57 s B 0 0 0 0 0 In an effort to aim for a successful completion of the project, the CRA Team will work hard to develop a strong relationship with the City's administration Team approach — and the parties likely to be affected by the various projects. involve all stakeholders We will work closely with the City to make sure those parties early in the process. affected by the project are kept informed of the progress of the project. At the same time we will work diligently to develop a design that minimizes the disruption to the area while achieving the most efficient design and maximum benefit to the area under the expected budget. The team will also move fast to coordinate with the necessary permitting and regulatory agencies to convey the importance and significance of the projects to City of Sunny Isles Beach. This effort will give us the opportunity to identify any issues that are normally discussed later in the design process and will give the design team the opportunity to tailor the design to meet these items. Some of the key members of our team have had the opportunity to work together as part of a team at a former employer. This situation can afford our team the benefit of already having the experience of working together to complete our projects on time and within budget. William (Bill) Lynch, who has gone on to found Lynch Surveying and Mapping, former head of surveying before forming his own company will be at hand to provide surveying services. CRA also worked together with Tierra, Inc. at Port Everglades as part of the Terminal 18 Expansion both Phase I and II. CRA has worked with Johnson Engineering and the firms enjoy having offices next to each other in both their Broward and Miami -Dade offices. Currently our team has been able to provide landscape, planning and engineering services to Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale on a continuing basis. We have been able to respond to the Church's request for immediate assistance to complete various "emergency" projects. As part of this contract, we have completed the design for a playground school, state -of- the -art track and field and various parking lots within budgets and with a very aggressive schedule. This contract has also allowed us the opportunity to provide the church with the services of other disciplines through other our other Team members. CRA provided full civil engineering services for the design, permitting and construction observation for four (4) Port Everglades terminals at the same time. All four terminals were completed ahead of schedule and on budget. Cordova Rodriguez & Assoc., Inc. Cordova Rodriguez & Assoc., Inc. RFQ# 1407 -02 58 Cordova Rodriguez & Assoc., Inc.
