A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2023-3488 APPROVING THE SELECTION
OF MEMBERS TO THE MOBILITY AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY ADVISORY
COMMITTEE; ACCEPTING THE RESIGNATION OF ASHOK R. PATEL, AND
APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF at-WWCL.-.
TO FILL THE VACANCY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on March 16, 2023, via Resolution No. 2023-3488, the City Commission of
the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") approved the selection of members to the Mobility and
Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee ("MAPSAC); and
WHEREAS, June 5, 2023, Ashok R. Patel submitted his resignation as Chairman of the
MAPSAC; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission accepts the resignation of As ok R. Patel from the
MAPSAC, and wishes to approve the appointment of
to fill the vacancy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Accept Resignation and Approve Appointment to the Mobility and Pedestrian
Safety Advisory Committee. The City Commission hereby accepts the resignation of Ashok R.
Patel from the MAPSAC, and wishes to approve the appointment of
/WN,Z/i✓ to fill the vacancy.
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall bec e e ective immediately upon
adoption.

Re: Letter of Resignation from the "Mobility and Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee"
Dear Mr. Betancur,
Please accept this letter as my resignation from the position of Chairperson of the township's
"Mobility and Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee" effective immediately. Due to personal
circumstances, I would not be able to commit the time and effort required to effectively serve
this committee and therefore, would not want to impact the committee from doing its important
work for the community. I sincerely thank the mayor and the commissioners of Sunny Isles Beach
for considering me for this voluntary position and apologize for this situation. Hope to serve my
beloved community of Sunny Isles Beach in the future as my personal circumstances change.

RE: Appointment to Fill a Vacancy on the Mobility and Pedestrian Safety
Advisory Committee
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
On June 5, 2023, Ashok Patel, Chairman of the Mobility and Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee
submitted his resignation effective June 5, 2023. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 2023-604, in the event of
a vacancy on an advisory board the appointing Commissioner shall select another appointee, provided
said appointment is approved by majority vote of the City Commission. Mayor Svechin, having
appointed Mr. Patel, is presenting to fill the vacancy.
The appointment shall be for the balance of the unexpired term.
