A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF BUDGETED FUNDS FOR THE
PURCHASE OF ELEVEN (11) 2023 FORD VEHICLES FROM BARTOW FORD, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SIX HUNDRED TWENTY-FOUR THOUSAND EIGHT
HUNDRED EIGHTY-FOUR DOLLARS AND THIRTY-TWO CENTS ($624,884.32),
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on September 14, 2023, via Ordinance No. 2023-606, the City Commission of
the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") adopted the Operating and Capital Improvement Budget
for the Fiscal Year Commencing October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024 ("Adopted
Budget"); and
WHEREAS, the City's Police Department is in need of purchasing eight (8) Ford Explorers
and three (3) Ford F-150 Trucks (collectively the "Vehicles"); and
WHEREAS, the purchase of these Vehicles were included in the Adopted Budget; and
WHEREAS, due to high demand as well as supply chain issues, there is a national
shortage of vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Bartow Ford (the "Vendor") has the Vehicles readily available for purchase;
and
WHEREAS, the purchase of the Vehicles will be made utilizing Charlotte County Contract
No. 2021000541; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-13 (C) of the City's Code of Ordinances, purchases
made under state general service administration contracts, federal, county or other
governmental contracts or competitive bids with other governmental agencies are exempt from
the City's competitive bidding requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to authorize the City Manager, or his designee,
to expend budgeted funds for the purchase of the Vehicles from the Vendor, in an amount not
to exceed Six Hundred Twenty -Four Thousand Eight Hundred Eighty -Four Dollars and Thirty -
Two Cents ($624,884.32), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of
eight (8) Hybrid Ford Explorers and three (3) Ford F-150 Trucks from Bartow Ford, in an amount
not to exceed Six Hundred Twenty -Four Thousand Eight Hundred Eighty -Four Dollars and Thirty -
Two Cents ($624,884.32), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".

Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

PD Vehicle Purchase from Bartow Ford
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The Police Department is seeking approval to purchase eight (8) Police Ford Explorers with prisoner
cages from Bartow Ford for $421,791.52 via Charlotte County contract #2021000541. The vehicle!
have been budgeted as capital items in the 23/24 budget. This batch of vehicles will replace the 2018
vehicles currently in our fleet. The replaced 2018 police vehicles will transition to our pool vehicle
allotment, the older pool vehicles will then be sold.
Additionally, the police department is seeking to purchase an unmarked Ford F150 for use by a
detective for $53,260.04 via Charlotte County contract 2021000541. This vehicle was also budgeted as
a capital item in the 23/24 budget. It will replace an unmarked vehicle that is from model year 2016.
The Police Department is also seeking to purchase a second 2023 Ford F150 for $57,800.00
Lastly the Police Department is also seeking to purchase a Police K9 Ford F150 via Charlotte Count,
Contract 2021000541 for $63,914.04 utilizing Local Law Enforcement Trust Funds. The Polic(
Department acquired two police K9s which are currently training with their assigned handlers. The
purchase of this vehicle will allow the police department to replace a current K9 vehicle which is a
2015 model year. This vehicle will come fully equipped with the necessary K9 equipment needed.
The purchase of all eleven (11) vehicles will be in an amount not to exceed $624,884.32.
