A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING AN IN-KIND DONATION TO CHABAD LUBAVITCH OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH FOR USE OF THE GOVERNMENT CENTER PARKING GARAGE
FOR A FREE COMMUNITY EVENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") has received an in-kind donation
request from the Chabad Lubavitch of Sunny Isles Beach (the "Chabad") for use of the space
underneath the parking garage of the Government Center (the "Facility"); and
WHEREAS, the Chabad host their free menorah lighting community event (the "Event")
at the Facility; and
WHEREAS, the Event, which began in the lobby of the City's Government Center, has
seen substantial growth over the years, necessitating its relocation to the Facility; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve the use of the Facility as an in-kind
donation to the Chabad for the Event, equating to an amount not to exceed Two Thousand
Nine Hundred Ten Dollars and No Cents ($2,910.00) in out-of-pocket expenses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Donation. The City Commission hereby approves the use of the
Facility as an in-kind donation to the Chabad for the Event, equating to an amount not to
exceed Two Thousand Nine Hundred Ten Dollars and No Cents ($2,910.00) in out-of-pocket
expenses.
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things
necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

In -Kind Donation to Chabad Lubavitch of Sunny Isles Beach
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
Rabbi Barron of Chabad Lubavitch of Sunny Isles has been hosting a Hanukkah event at City Hall fo
several years. In the past, the event has been hosted in the lobby of the Government Center;
however, in recent years, the event has grown and is now hosted in the covered parking area in the
Government Center.
They are requesting the use of the covered parking area at the Government Center again this year tc
host the first night of Hanukkah. Their event would be held on December 7 from 5:00 — 7:00 pm with
set up time beginning at 2:00 pm. This event, which includes a student orchestra and stage
entertainment, is open to the public, and they are expecting about 250 people.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be delivered. There will be no cooking of food onsite.
They are requesting an in-kind donation from the City:
Rental of covered parking area in the Government Center - $1500
Two staff to assist before, after, and during the event - $400 ($40/hour/staff)
Stage risers - $250
250 White padded folding chairs - $300
Two 8' Tables - $20 ($10/table)

Two Police Detail - $300 ($75/hour/officer)
The total in-kind donation request is $2,910 (two thousand nine hundred and ten dollars).
