A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH PARKS AND
RECREATION MASTER PLAN, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A";
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") was in need of professional
consulting services to develop and create the City's first Parks and Recreation Master Plan (the
"Plan"); and
WHEREAS, on May 19th, 2022, via Resolution No. 2022-3346, the City Commission
approved an Agreement with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. (the "Firm") for the development
and creation of the Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Firm has developed and submitted the final draft of the Plan; and
WHEREAS, City staff has reviewed the Plan and recommends its acceptance; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to accept the Plan, attached hereto as Exhibit
am
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Accepting the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The City Commission hereby
accepts the City of Sunny Isles Beach Parks and Recreation Master Plan, attached hereto as
Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

RE: Accepting the Park and Recreation Master Plan
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
In May 2022, the City entered into an agreement with AECOM to develop a Parks and Recreatioi
Master Plan. This plan was created to help determine parks and recreation needs over the next 10 tc
15 years. AECOM began collecting data in June 2022. This data was gathered using both qualitativ(
and quantitive techniques, including surveys, focus groups, commission and staff input, and in-person
town hall meetings.
The Parks and Recreation Master Plan focuses on five long-range vision subsystems.
1. Community -wide recreation and cultural programs
2. Neighborhood parks and amenities
3. Connectivity and walkability
4. Water access and aquatics
5. Sustainability and resilience
Several projects have been highlighted as part of this Master Plan. This document is simply a tool anc
guide for responsible planning based on data. This plan provides the vision of what is possible, in an
organized fashion, to address the needs and desires of the residents at this time. As time passes,
priorities may change.

Acceptance of this plan acknowledges the work of the residents that participated in many different
forms that provided the consultants with the data to identify projects that comprise a well thought out
and thorough plan for our future. City staff will use this tool to plan for the future. Before any single
project moves forward, it will be presented to City Commission for approval as funds and
opportunities are available.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A copy of the Master Plan will be provided in advance of the meeting.
