A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING AN IN -KIND
DONATION FOR USE OF THE CHIEF FRED MAAS BASEBALL FIELD
BY THE NORTH MIAMI BEACH LITTLE LEAGUE FOR THE
"CHALLENGER PROGRAM", IN AN ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF TWO
HUNDRED SIXTY -FIVE DOLLARS ($265.00); AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE
THIS RESOLUTION: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is committed to providing a variety of quality
recreational opportunities to our community; and
WHEREAS, the North Miami Beach Little League and Sunny Isles Beach are dedicated
to activities that benefit the children of the Sunny Isles Beach community; and
WHEREAS, the North Miami Beach Little League hosts a special program in the fall
each year named the "Challenger Program" to give the opportunity to play baseball to disabled
individuals, and has requested use of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field to host these games;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is dedicated to supporting these activities
with an in -kind donation of free use of the field, in an estimated amount of Two Hundred Sixty -
Five Dollars and Fifty Cents ($265.00).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Donation. The City Commission hereby approves the donation of in-
kind support for free use of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field located at Pelican Community
Park by North Miami Beach Little League for the "Challenger Program ", in an estimated amount
of Two Hundred Sixty -Five Dollars ($265.00).
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of September 2014.

In -Kind Donation to the North Miami Beach Little League for a
Special Program
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to
provide an In -Kind Donation to the North Miami Beach Little League in an
estimated amount of $265.00.
REASONS:
The North Miami Beach Little League hosts a special program in the fall each
year named the Challenger Program. Through this program, they give the
opportunity to play baseball to disabled individuals. This program uses youth and
adult volunteers to partner with the players and assist them as needed as well as
to organize the season. The season runs on Sundays from 9/21/14 - 11/9/14.
The related rental cost of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field at Pelican
Community Park is valued at $265.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
No funding is required for this in -kind donation.
