RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing an increase for retail advertising services with the Miami Herald
Publishing Company.
REASONS:
The City has been under contract with the Miami Herald Publishing Company for
several years as there are legal obligations that require us to use the Miami
Herald or Neighbors section for legal public noticing. On October 17, 2013 via

the Miami Herald to allow the City to achieve a rate discount, in an amount not to
exceed $24,000.00. On March 20, 2014 via Resolution No. 2014 -2213, the City
Commission approved an increase with the Miami Herald in an amount not to
exceed $20,000.00 bringing the total amount not to exceed to $44,000.00.
Due to an increase in demand of advertising services needed to legally comply
with statutory obligations to inform our residents and property owners of City
Commission public hearings, Planning and Zoning, Capital Projects, Human
Resources, and other related matters regarding the City, an additional
$13,000.00 is needed for the Miami Herald bringing the total amount not to
exceed to $57,000.00.
