HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2024-3682RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - �?&&Z— A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE ORDER TO THOMPSON PUMP & MANUFACTURING FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) WATER PUMPS, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THREE HUNDRED SIX THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($306,436.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City is in need to of water pumps for emergency use during flooding events throughout the City; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase two (2) water pumps (the "Goods") from Thompson Pump & Manufacturing (the "Contractor"); and WHEREAS, the Florida Sheriff's Association issued Bid No. #FSA23-EQU21.0 - Equipment (the "Bid") and awarded contracts to numerous vendors including Contractor; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the City's procurement code provisions, purchases made under state, county or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with other governmental agencies are exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures; and WHEREAS, the City desires to issue a purchase order to Contractor, using the same pricing provided by Contractor to the Florida Sheriff's Association via its Bid response; and WHEREAS, Contractor is a certified and insured company with the necessary experience to provide the desired Goods; and WHEREAS, staff requested a proposal from Contractor utilizing the pricing and fixed discounts provided for in the Florida Sheriff's Association Bid; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to issue a purchase order to the Contractor to provide the Goods, as more particularly described in Exhibit "A", in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Six Thousand Four Hundred Thirty -Six Dollars and No Cents ($306,436.00). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BYTHE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Purchase Order. The City Commission hereby approves the issuance of a purchase order with Thompson Pump & Manufacturing to provide two (2) water pumps, as more particularly described in Exhibit "A", in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Six Thousand Four Hundred Thirty -Six Dollars and No Cents ($306,436.00). Thompson Pump is providing Florida Sheriffs Association contract pricing for the equipment. If an existing contract is not available, it is essential to procure through open market competition at the lowest obtainable price. Time and material contract should generally be avoided. REASONS: The City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to utilize Thompson Pumps and Manufacturing Co., Inc. (Thompson Pump) for the purchase of two pumps with auxiliary trailers with hoses included. The City is in dire need of emergency bypass pumping in the event of a major rain event or other flooding emergencies within the City. Thompson Pump is providing 2023 — 2024 Florida Sheriffs Association Contract pricing for the two pumps. FY 2023 — 2024 Florida Sheriffs Association Contract Bid Award #FSA23-EQU21.0 - Equipment which is a 2 -year continuing contract award.
