HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2024-3748RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 374b 4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF BUDGETED FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A 2024 FORD TRANSIT T-250 CARGO VAN FROM ALAN JAY FLEET SALES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIFTY-FIVE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY-THREE DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($55,383.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on September 14, 2023, via Ordinance No. 2023-606, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") adopted the Operating and Capital Improvement Budget for the Fiscal Year Commencing October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024 ("Adopted Budget"); and WHEREAS, City's Public Work's Department is in need of purchasing a 2024 Ford Transit T-250 Cargo Van (the "Van") has proper storage compartments to carry to transport all necessary tools and equipment needed for various City projects; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-13(C) of the City's Purchasing Code, purchases made under state general service administration contracts, federal, county or other governmental contracts or competitive bids with other governmental agencies, are exempt from the competitive bidding requirements set forth in Chapter 62; and WHEREAS, City staff has been able to secure the Van from Alan Jay Fleet Sales (the "Vendor") utilizing the 2024 City of Tallahassee Contract No. 5179-2024; and WHEREAS, the purchase of the Van was included in the Adopted Budget; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to expend budgeted funds for the purchase of the Van from the Vendor, in an amount not to exceed Fifty -Five Thousand Three -Hundred Eighty -Three Dollars and No Cents ($55,383.00). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authority to Expend Budgeted Funds. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager, or his designee, to expend budgeted funds in an amount not to exceed Fifty - Five Thousand Three -Hundred Eighty -Three Dollars and No Cents ($55,383.00) from Alan Jay Fleet Sales. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. REASONS: The City of Sunny Isles Beach is in need of a T-250 Cargo Van. This Public Works vehicle was budgeted for the Fiscal Year 2024/2025. This vehicle will perform general maintenance throughout the City. The benefit of this vehicle is to have proper storage compartments to carry all necessary tools and paint equipment in order to handle various tasks in the field. Alan Jay Fleet Sales has a 2024 Ford Transit T- 250 Cargo Van Low Roof RW D 148" WB 9070 available on the lot. The purchase of the Truck will be made utilizing City of Tallahassee contract no. 5179 New Municipal Vehicles, Cars, Vans, Sport Utility Vehicles, and Light Trucks awarded to Alan Jay Fleet Sales.
