A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, CONDEMNING THE ANTI-SEMITIC ATTACKS ON ISRAELI SOCCER FANS
IN AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT
CERTIFIED COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") is home to a diverse population,
including a significant and vibrant Jewish and Israeli community, and stands firmly against all
forms of anti-Semitism, bigotry, and hate; and
WHEREAS, recent anti-Semitic attacks on Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam, Netherlands,
on November 7, 2024, have drawn international condemnation, reflecting the persistent and
unacceptable presence of anti-Semitism in modern society; and
WHEREAS, such hateful acts threaten the fundamental values of respect, inclusion, and
human dignity upheld by democratic societies around the world; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is committed to denouncing acts of hate wherever they
occur and standing in solidarity with victims of anti-Semitism; and
WHEREAS, the City further affirms its commitment to doing all things necessary to
ensure the safety, security, and well-being of its Jewish community and all residents; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes the importance of a unified global response
to combat hate and prejudice, ensuring that such incidents are unequivocally condemned; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is the best interest of its residents and
stakeholders to approve this resolution.
WHEREAS, the City wishes to condemn all acts of hate in any form whether they target
individuals or Communities based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation,
political affiliation, or any other basis of identity, including attacks to our teenagers on August
4th, 2024, in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and the attack on October 23rd, 2024, to Jewish
Commissioner Jerry Joseph.1
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Condemning Attacks. The City Commission hereby strongly condemns the anti-
Semitic attacks on Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and reaffirms its stance
against antisemitism and hate in all forms.

Section 2. Directive to City Clerk. The City Commission directs the City Clerk to transmit a
certified copy of this Resolution to Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator Jason Pizzo, State
Representative Fabian Basabe, members of the Florida League of Cities, City lobbyist Ron L.
Book, and the Consulate General of Israel in Florida.
Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution, including review of the City's public safety
measures.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Resolution Condemning the Anti-Semitic Attacks in Amsterdam
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is presented for consideration.
REASONS:
The attached resolution condemns the recent anti-Semitic attacks that targeted Israeli soccer fans in
Amsterdam, Netherlands, on November 7,2024. These acts of hate have sparked widespread
international condemnation, reflecting the persistent and unacceptable prevalence of antisemitism.
