A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 2024-3769; RATIFYING THE PURCHASE OF
A 2024 FORD F-550 SUPER CAB CHASSIS FROM ALAN JAY FLEET SALES, IN AN
AMOUNT :NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED
TWO DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($181,602.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A";
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE
THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on November 2111, 2024, via Resolution No. 2024-3769, the City Commission
of the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") authorized the purchase of a 2024 Ford F-550 Super
Cab Chassis (the "Truck") and Hydraulic Crane (the "Crane") from Hawkeye Truck Equipment Co,
Inc. ("Hawkeye") for use during maintenance and beautification projects of the City requiring
use of heavy-duty equipment; and
WHEREAS, the quote from Hawkeye did not include the sale of the Truck;
WHEREAS, Alan Jay Fleet Sales provided the City with a quote for both the Truck and
Crane; and
WHEREAS, in December 2024, the City Manager authorized the purchase of the Truck
and Crane from Alan Jay Fleet Sales ("Alan Jay"), in an amount not to exceed One Hundred
Eighty -One Thousand Six Hundred Two Dollars and No Cents ($181,602.00); and
WHEREAS, the City will utilize the pricing and terms under Sourcewell Contract No. 2025
091521 -NAF & 032824 -NAF; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 62-13(I) of the City's Code of Ordinances, purchases
made through intergovernmental cooperative purchasing arrangements or purchasing
consortiums organized as a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental
entities, provided that such cooperative purchasing arrangements or consortiums provide for a
competitive process to select a vendor are exempt from the City's competitive bidding
requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to rescind Resolution No. 2024-3769, and ratifies the
purchase of the Truck and Crane from Alan Jay, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred
Eighty -One Thousand Six Hundred Two Dollars and No Cents ($181,602.00), attached hereto as
Exhibit "A".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Rescindment of Resolution. The City Commission hereby rescinds Resolution No.
2024-3769.

Section 2. Ratification of Purchase. The City Commission hereby ratifies the purchase of a
2024 Ford F-550 Super Cab Chassis and Hydraulic Crane, in an amount not to exceed One
Hundred Eighty -One Thousand Six Hundred Two Dollars and No Cents ($181,602.00), attached
hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: Rescind Resolution No. 2024-3769; Ratify Purchase of a 2025 Ford F-550
Super Cab Chassis and Crane from Alan Jay Fleet SalesA
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
In accordance with the 2024/25 Capital Outlet Budget, Public Works department budgeted for the
purchase of a Utility Truck with Crane. Thier support for the budget line item was as follows: Service
trucks with cranes are essential for lifting and moving heavy equipment during on-site repairs. The crane
allows heavy equipment to be moved, such as storm grates, material loads, lift heavy parts to speed up
service, place or remove materials around obstacles or where space is limited.
On November 2024, the Public Works department presented an add-on item to purchase this
equipment from Hawkeye Truck Equipment Co. Upon further review, and confirmation from Hawkeye,
the quote did not include the Ford F-550. The combined grand -total for the crane and a 2024 Ford F-550
was $193,082.50.
Alan Jay Fleet quoted the City a 2025 Ford F-550 Super Cab Chassis and the Hydraulic Crane for
$181,602.00, roughly $11,000 less. The 2025 Ford F-550 has been received by the city and is currently
listed in Public Work's inventory. The crane body and crane package will take 8-11 months for the city to
receive.
Although the crane has a longer lead-time with Alan Jay, due to the cost savings, and the terms and
conditions purchasing off of the Sourcewell contract, Procurement has recommended to rescind the

Hawkeye resolution and request a ratification with Alan Jay.
