RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - ?S <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR FLORIDA SENATE BILL 1018, RELATING TO <br />HOMESTEAD EXEMPTIONS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT COPIES OF <br />THIS RESOLUTION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR <br />WHEREAS, the Florida State Senator Blaise Ingoglia introduced Senate Bill 1018 (SB 1018), <br />which proposes an increase in the homestead tax exemption amount for all levies except <br />assessments for special benefits; and <br />WHEREAS, SB 1018 seeks to provide financial relief to homeowners by increasing the <br />exemption from the assessed valuation of $25,000 to $75,000 for eligible property owners, <br />excluding school district levies; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") recognizes <br />the importance of this proposed legislation in providing meaningful tax relief to residents; and <br />WHEREAS, SB 1018 aligns with the City's commitment to supporting policies that enhance <br />affordability and economic stability for its residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds it in the best interest of its residents to express its <br />support for SB 1018 and encourage its passage by the Florida Legislature. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Express Support of Senate Bill 1018. The City Commission hereby expresses its <br />support of Senate Bill 1018. <br />Section 2. Direction to the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed to distribute copies <br />of this Resolution to the Florida League of Cities, the President of the Florida Senate, the Speaker <br />of Florida House of Representatives, the Governor of the State of Florida, Florida Senator Blaise <br />Ingoglia. <br />Section 3. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do <br />all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. <br />Section 4. Effective Date.
