'VO9 t7 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI-DADE <br />COUNTY TO PERFORM TRAFFIC ENGINEERING FUNCTIONS RELATED TO TRAFFIC <br />CALMING ON THE CITY'S LOCAL STREETS, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") desires to improve the quality of life <br />and public health through traffic safety improvements on the City's local streets; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 2-95 and 2-96.1 of the Miami -Dade County (the <br />"County") Code of Ordinances, all traffic control and traffic engineering services in the County <br />are under their exclusive jurisdiction; and <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to assume responsibilities of certain traffic engineering <br />functions pertaining to its local streets only, including but not limited to the installation of <br />traffic calming devices ("Traffic Calming"); <br />WHEREAS, the City has requested the County allow it to perform the function of <br />conducting engineering studies for the feasibility of Traffic Calming; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of its residents, <br />visitors, and stakeholders to approve an Interlocal Agreement with the County to perform <br />traffic engineering functions related to traffic calming on its local streets, attached hereto as <br />Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval of Interlocal Agreement. The City Commission hereby approves an <br />Interlocal Agreement with Miami -Dade County to perform traffic engineering functions related <br />to traffic calming on its local streets, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />Section 2. Authorization of Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said <br />Interlocal Agreement. <br />Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br />Section 4. Effective Date.
