HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2025-3861RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - '3 0& 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATIONS REQUESTED BY CITY ADMINISTRATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on May 15th, 2025, via Ordinance No. 2025-628, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") adopted a policy and procedure requiring Commission approval prior to the issuance of official City proclamations; and WHEREAS, the City Manager's Office recognizes the importance of honoring the dedicated public service and hard work of City employees, often through acknowledgment aligned with nationally or locally designated observance days or weeks; and WHEREAS, such proclamations serve to bolster employee morale and highlight the essential roles played by municipal staff in delivering quality services to the community; and WHEREAS, to streamline the approval process and promote efficiency, the City Manager's Office requests Commission approval for employee recognition proclamations issued throughout the remainder of the 2025 calendar year; and WHEREAS, beginning in November 2025 and continuing annually, proposed proclamations for the following calendar year will be presented to the City Commission for review and approval; and WHEREAS, this process applies exclusively to proclamations initiated by the City Manager's Office and does not affect those brought forward by elected officials. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamations. The City Commission hereby approves the issuance of the requested proclamations by City Administration, as follows: August August 31— National Senior Citizen's Day September September 1— Building and Code Staff Appreciation Day September 11— Patriot Day / National Day of Service & Remembrance 3rd Tuesday of September — National IT Professional's Day September 26 — Human Resource Professional's Day @BCL@A816FD5A Page 1 of 2 271 October National Community Planning Month Pedestrian Safety Month October 2 — Custodial Worker's Appreciation Day 1st full week of October — Customer Service Appreciation Week 2nd week of October — Fire Prevention Week 3rd Week of October — Florida City Government Week Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. REASONS: With the passing of Ordinance No. 2025-628, City Commission approval is required prior to issuing a proclamation. The City Manager's Office finds it important to recognize the hard work and dedication of our employees. This work is commonly recognized through national and local organizations wherein days or weeks are designated as such. To streamline this process, it is the request of the City Manager's Office to obtain approval for these proclamations for the duration of this calendar year. Each year thereafter, proposed proclamations will be presented at the November meeting for the following calendar year. These proclamations are separate and apart from those that will be brought forward by each elected official. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Some proclamations proposed by the City Manager's Office on this list are required for grants or honorable designations such as Arbor Day for our Tree City USA designation. The following observances are requested with this resolution for the balance of this calendar year.
