A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
RECOGNIZING THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE REGIONS
KNOWN AS JUDEA AND SAMARIA AND AFFIRMING THE USE OF HISTORICALLY
ACCURATE TERMINOLOGY IN OFFICIAL CITY COMMUNICATIONS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the regions historically known as Judea and Samaria hold deep\cultural,
historical, and geopolitical significance, particularly in the context of the Jewish people's ancestral
heritage and the broader history of the Middle East; and
WHEREAS, the terminology used to describe geographic regions can carry significant
implications for historical accuracy, cultural recognition, and international understanding; and
WHEREAS, the term "West Bank" was introduced during a period of foreign occupation and
does not reflect the historical nomenclature associated with the region; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") values historical integrity, cultural
respect, and the promotion of informed civic discourse; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of maintaining neutrality in religious matters
while acknowledging the historical contributions of various cultures and peoples.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Recognition of Historical Terminology. The City Commission hereby recognizes the
regions commonly referred to as the "West Bank" by their historically accurate names, "Judea" and
"Samaria".
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: Resolution Recognizing Historically Accurate Names of Judea and Samaria
RECOMMENDATION:
This resolution is presented for consideration.
REASONS:
The attached resolution proposes the recognition of the historically accurate terms "Judea" and
"Samaria" in place of "West Bank". This initiative reflects a broader effort to honor the cultural and
historical narratives of global communities.
