Gomez Day RECOMMENDATION: Presented for your consideration. REASONS: Anthony R. Gomez is a distinguished leader in South Florida's construction industry and a longtime contributor to the growth and development of Sunny Isles Beach. As co-founder of Unitech Builders Corp., Mr. Gomez has led transformative projects that have shaped the city's skyline and strengthened its infrastructure. His dedication to excellence, community engagement, and economic advancement has earned him widespread recognition, including his recent election as the 25th President of the Latin Builders Association. This proclamation honors Mr. Gomez's legacy, leadership, and enduring impact on our city and region. It also reflects the City's appreciation for individuals who exemplify entrepreneurial spirit and civic commitment. Item Number: 9.AD 691 RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING SEPTEMBER 27, 2025, AS ANTHONY R. GOMEZ DAY IN THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Anthony R. Gomez began working at a young age alongside his father, developing the skills and work ethic that would launch a distinguished career in the construction industry; and WHEREAS, in 1992, Anthony Gomez and his brother Gregory Gomez co-founded Unitech Builders Corp., a premier general contracting firm based in the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") and dedicated to excellence in South Florida's construction sector; and WHEREAS, for more than 25 years, Anthony Gomez has led Unitech Builders Corp. with vision and integrity, overseeing transformative projects including custom homes, commercial retail spaces, and industrial developments that have shaped the physical and economic landscape of the City and the surrounding region; and WHEREAS, Anthony Gomez's tireless dedication has significantly contributed to the growth, infrastructure, and cultural vitality of the City, earning him the respect of peers and the gratitude of the community; and WHEREAS, in recognition of his leadership and industry expertise, the Latin Builders Association has elected Anthony Gomez as its 25th President, entrusting him to further the organization's mission of promoting growth, diversity, and excellence in the construction industry; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to honor Anthony R. Gomez for his enduring contributions, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the prosperity of the City and the broader South Florida region. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the issuance of a proclamation recognizing September 27, 2025, as Anthony R. Gomez Day in the City. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
