RESOLUTION NO. 2025 -� <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROLACT OF 1984, TO EXPEND FORFEITURE FUNDS <br />FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ("DOJ") FEDERAL FORFEITURE ACCOUNT TO <br />FUND A FULL-TIME SCHOOL RESOURCE SERGEANT POSITION AND TO PURCHASE A <br />MOBILE COMMAND CENTER VEHICLE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SIX <br />HUNDRED THIRTY-THREE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS AND <br />SIXTEEN CENTS ($633,980.16), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach ("City") and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds <br />from the established Department of Justice ("DOJ") federal forfeiture account, for approved <br />programs or purchases intended to enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and Florida <br />Statutes §932.7055(5)(b), upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a <br />municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification <br />that the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request to expend DOJ forfeiture funds in <br />compliance with the aforementioned legal requirements to fund a full-time School Resource <br />Sergeant position and to purchase a mobile command center vehicle, in an amount not to exceed <br />Six Hundred Thirty -Three Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty Dollars and Sixteen Cents ($633,980.16), <br />attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the certification, attached <br />hereto as Exhibit "A", the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend Six Hundred Thirty -Three <br />Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty Dollars and Sixteen Cents ($633,980.16), from the established <br />Department of Justice federal forfeitures account to fund a full-time School Resource Sergeant <br />position and to purchase a mobile command center vehicle. <br />Section 2.
