A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING
OCTOBER 2025 AS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed nationally each October to raise
awareness about the impact of breast cancer, promote early detection and prevention, and
honor the strength and resilience of those affected by the disease; and
WHEREAS, by way of this proclamation, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City")
reaffirms its support of breast cancer education, research, and advocacy, and reminds the
public of the importance of regular screenings and the role our community plays in supporting
survivors and their families; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to formally recognize October 2025 as Breast
Cancer Awareness Month in the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the
issuance of a proclamation recognizing the month of October 2025, as Breast Cancer Awareness
Month in the City.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RECOMMENDATION:

REASONS:
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed nationally each October to raise awareness about the
impact of breast cancer, promote early detection and prevention, and honor the strength and resilience
of those affected by the disease. The City has historically supported this initiative through public
outreach, community events, and a proclamation. This reaffirms the City's commitment to supporting
breast cancer education, research, and advocacy. It also serves as a public reminder of the importance
of regular screenings and the role our community plays in supporting survivors and their families.
