A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AWARDING BID NO. 14-
10-02 TO AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR
DESIGNEE TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH
SOUTHERN UNDERGROUND INDUSTRIES, INC. FOR SMALL
CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AT VARIOUS CITY FACILITIES
AND LOCATIONS, PROVIDED THAT THE CITY ATTORNEY
REVIEW SUCH AGREEMENTS FOR FORM AND LEGAL
SUFFICIENCY, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A';
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY
ATTORNEY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City is in need of a general contractor to provide continuing services, on
an as- needed basis, for small construction projects in the City, and issued Bid Noy 14 -10 -02 of
which one (1) response was received: and
WHEREAS, there are a variety of small construction projects to be addressed including
but not limited to emergency repairs, for non - project specific unit costs in order to undertake
needed construction services on an as- needed and as- requested basis: and
WHEREAS, the proposal submitted by Southern Underground Industries. Inc. was
determined to be a responsible and responsive bidder for small construction projects at various
Citv facilities and locations; and
WHEREAS. Southern Underground Industries. Inc. is qualified, willing and able to
provide the desired services on the terms and conditions set forth herein: and
WHEREAS. the Cite wishes to award Bid No. 14 -10 -02 to and authorize the City Manager
or designee to enter into Agreements with Southern Underground Industries, Inc. to provide
continuing services on an as- needed basis for small construction projects in the City.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The recitals set forth in this resolution are incorporated
herein by reference as if fully set forth herein.
Section 2. Award of Bid and Authorization of City Manager. The Citv Commission hereby
awards Bid No. 14 -10 -02 to and authorizes the City Manager or designee to enter into Agreements
with Southern Underground Industries. Inc. for continuing services on an as- needed basis for small
construction projects at various City facilities and locations, provided that the City Attorney review
such Agreements for form and legal sufficiency, attached hereto as Exhibit "A ".

Section 3. Authorization of City Manager and Citv Attornev. The Cite Manager and the Cite
Attorney are hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18" day of December /014.

The undersigned Proposer proposes and agrees, If this Bid Is accepted, to enter into an agreement with the City
of Sunny Isles Beach to perform and furnish all Work as specified or Indicated in the Contract Documents for the

Resolution Approving Job Order Contract with
RE: Southern Underground Industries, Inc. for Small
Construction Projects at Various City Facilities and
Locations
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
REASONS:
There are a variety of small construction projects to be addressed including
but not limited to emergency repairs. ITB 14 -10 -02 was issued by the City to
solicit non - project specific unit costs in order to undertake needed
construction services on an as needed and as requested basis. A bid response
was received on December 4; 2014 and staff recommends approval of a
contract with Southern Underground Industries; Inc. Known projects to be
implemented via a small construction contract include:
Storm drainage investigation and possible repairs at 187 Street and Atlantic
Boulevard are needed subsequent to recently completed WASA repair of the
sanitary sewer system.
Repairs and restoration at Intracoastal Parks due to the use of the south end
of the south parcel for construction access for emergency seawall repair.
Drainage infrastructure at Heritage Park to mitigate persistent drainage
problems related to the parking garage.
Repairs to a City storm drainage outfall and associated parking lot
restoration on the Miami Dade County Fire Station property at 172 Street.
