HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2026-39857 RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING FEBRUARY 2026, AS BLACK HISTORY MONTH; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Black History Month is observed annually throughout the United States during the month of February to recognize and honor the significant contributions, achievements, and cultural heritage of Black Americans; and WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beah (the "City") values the rich diversity of its residents and acknowledges the profound impact that Black Americans have had on the nation's history, arts, sciences, public service, and civic life; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to formally commemorate Black History Month 2026 by issuing an official proclamation that celebrates these contributions and reaffirms the City's commitment -to equity, inclusion, and the ongoing pursuit of justice; and WHEREAS, the proposed proclamation highlights the importance of honoring the past, celebrating the present, and supporting a future in which all members of the community can thrive; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that issuing this proclamation serves the public interest and reflects the City's dedication to a welcoming and inclusive community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the issuance of a proclamation recognizing February 2026, as Black History Month in the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
