-J�� I ' <br />LEI) <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING <br />APRIL 2026, AS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, National Poetry Month was established in 1996 by the Academy of American <br />Poets as a nationwide celebration of poetry and its vital place in American culture; and <br />WHEREAS, poetry fosters creativity, self-expression, and cultural awareness, while <br />strengthening language skills and encouraging thoughtful reflection among individuals of all <br />ages; and <br />WHEREAS, National Poetry Month serves to increase public awareness and appreciation <br />of poetry, highlight the important role poets play in society, and encourage the reading and <br />writing of poetry; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that issuing this proclamation serves the public <br />interest and recognizes the value of literary arts in enriching the community and supporting <br />educational and cultural initiatives that inspire residents and visitors alike. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the <br />issuance of a proclamation recognizing April 2026, as National Poetry Month in the City of Sunny <br />Isles Beach. <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br />Section 3. . Effective Date.
