RESOLUTION NO. 2026 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING
APRIL 2026, AS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, National Poetry Month was established in 1996 by the Academy of American
Poets as a nationwide celebration of poetry and its vital place in American culture; and
WHEREAS, poetry fosters creativity, self-expression, and cultural awareness, while
strengthening language skills and encouraging thoughtful reflection among individuals of all
ages; and
WHEREAS, National Poetry Month serves to increase public awareness and appreciation
of poetry, highlight the important role poets play in society, and encourage the reading and
writing of poetry; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that issuing this proclamation serves the public
interest and recognizes the value of literary arts in enriching the community and supporting
educational and cultural initiatives that inspire residents and visitors alike.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES
BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the
issuance of a proclamation recognizing April 2026, as National Poetry Month in the City of Sunny
Isles Beach.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. . Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
