A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING
APRIL 18, 2026, AS AUTISM SOCCER DAY; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO
TRANSMIT COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Autism Soccer is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing children and
young adults on the autism spectrum with opportunities to learn and play soccer in a supportive
and inclusive environment; and
WHEREAS, Autism Soccer promotes physical activity, social interaction, teamwork, and
skill development for individuals with autism, while fostering a sense of community and
belonging; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") recognizes
the importance of inclusive recreational programs that enhance the quality of life for all
residents and support families within the community; and
WHEREAS, Autism Soccer Day serves to raise awareness of autism and highlight the
positive impact of adaptive sports programs in empowering individuals of all abilities; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to recognize April 18, 2026, as Autism Soccer Day
and encourage residents to support and participate in activities that promote inclusion and
awareness.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES
BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the
issuance of a proclamation recognizing April 18, 2026, as Autism Soccer Day in the City of Sunny
Isles Beach.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: Issuance of a Proclamation Recognizing April 18, 2026, as Autism Soccer Day
RECOMMENDATION:
This resolution is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
This Resolution approves the issuance of a Proclamation recognizing April 18, 2026, as Autism Soccer
Day, in support of Autism Soccer and its mission to provide inclusive recreational opportunities for
individuals on the autism spectrum while promoting awareness, community engagement, and the
benefits of adaptive sports.
