RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE LOCALLY FUNDED AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AND THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE REHABILITATION, REPAIR, AND/OR <br />REPLACEMENT OF THE ATLANTIC ISLE HISTORIC BRIDGE, ATTACHED HERETO, <br />AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE <br />AGREEMENT, AND TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br />RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") is the owner of the historically <br />designated Atlantic Isle Bridge (the "Bridge"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Bridge was in need of rehabilitation and,restoration to remain in a safe <br />and operable condition (the "Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Project is part of the Florda Department of Transportation ("FDOT") <br />Work Program, listed as Project No. No. 430029-2; and <br />WHEREAS, on November 16, 2023, via Resolution No. 2023-3585, the City Commission <br />approved a Locally Funded Agreement and a Three -Party Escrow Agreement (the "2023 LFA") <br />for the Project, whereby FDOT would manage the Project and the City would fund twenty-five <br />percent (25%) of the total project cost, with FDOT funding the remaining seventy-five percent <br />(75%); and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the 2023 LFA, the City committed and paid $1,023,409.00 <br />toward the project; and <br />WHEREAS, during the design phase, it was determined that repairs to the Historic <br />Atlantic Isles Bridge would not provide a sufficient long-term solution, and the project scope <br />was modified to include full replacement of the bridge while preserving its historic character <br />through the repurposing of coral rock and other aesthetic elements ("New Scope"); and <br />WHEREAS, the New Scope requires additional funding by the City, in an amount not to <br />exceed Six Hundred Forty -One Thousand Seven Hundred Seventy -One Dollars and No Cents <br />($641,771.00), bringing the City's total contribution to an amount not to exceed One Million Six <br />Hundred Sixty -Five Thousand One Hundred Eighty Dollars and No Cents ($1,665,180.00); and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve an Amendment to the Locally <br />Funded Agreement with FDOT for the Project, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />@BCL@7C16F489 Page 1 of 2 502 <br />
