A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING
MAY 2026 AS "NATIONAL LAW MONTH"; PROVIDING FOR AUTHORIZATION;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") recognizes the importance of
fostering respect for the rule of law, encouraging civic participation, and supporting efforts that
educate residents about the legal system and the principles upon which our nation was
founded;and
WHEREAS, National Law Month provides an opportunity to promote public
understanding of the legal system, the importance of equal justice under law, and the vital role
that courts, attorneys, civic institutions, and engaged residents play in preserving constitutional
principles; and
WHEREAS, the American Bar Association recognizes Law Day annually on May 1st, and
the 2026 Law Day theme, "The Rule of Law and the American Dream," encourages all Americans
to reflect on how the rule of law protects individual freedoms and helps make opportunity
possible; and
WHEREAS, the Miami -Dade Bar Association, together with South Florida's voluntary bar
associations and legal community, continues to support programs and initiatives that promote
professionalism, access to justice, legal education, and public service throughout Miami -Dade
County; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to recognize May 2026, as National Law Month
in the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES
BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the
issuance of a proclamation recognizing May 2026, as National Law Month in the City of Sunny
Isles Beach.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: Approving the Issuance of a Proclamation Recognizing National Law Month
2026
RECOMMENDATION:
This item is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
This resolution approves the issuance of a proclamation recognizing May 2026 as "National Law Month"
in the City. National Law Month provides an opportunity to promote public understanding of the legal
system, the importance of equal justice under law, and the vital role that courts, attorneys, civic
institutions, and engaged residents play in preserving constitutional principles. The proclamation also
recognizes the Miami -Dade Bar Association and South Florida's legal community for their continued
efforts to promote professionalism, access to justice, legal education, and public service throughout
Miami -Dade County.
