Home My WebLink AboutReso 2015-2373 RESOLUTION NO. 2015- 2373 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING AN IN-KIND DONATION TO CHABAD RUSSIAN CENTER OF SOUTH FLORIDA FOR USE OF BELLA VISTA BAY PARK PARKING LOT, ELECTRIC, PERMIT FEES, AND CITY SUPPORT PERSONNEL FOR THEIR GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 11, 2015, IN AN ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,200.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Chabad Russian Center of South Florida hosted a Ground Breaking Ceremony for their project on Sunday, January 11, 2015; and WHEREAS, due to the number of guests and location and condition of their site, it was necessary for the Chabad Russian Center to use the City operated parking lot adjacent to Bella Vista Bay Park which resulted in the loss of potential revenue for those parking spaces; and WHEREAS, the Chabad Russian Center requested the following to be waived: the Special Event Permit Fee $1,650.00; Police Services $400.00; and estimated electrical expenses $100.00 for a total amount of$2,200.00 inclusive of the estimated $100 lost revenue due to their use of the parking lot; and WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to provide an in-kind donation to Chabad Russian Center of South Florida for use of the Parking Lot adjacent to Bella Vista Bay Park, Electric, Special Event Permit Fee, and Police personnel services to the Chabad Russian Center of South Florida, in an total estimated amount of Two Thousand One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($2,200.00) inclusive of the estimated $100 lost revenue due to their use of the parking lot. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ratify Donation. The City Commission hereby ratifies the donation of in-kind support for the Chabad Russian Center of South Florida to utilize the Bella Vista Bay Park Parking Lot, Electric, Permits Fees, and City personnel for their Ground Breaking Ceremony on Sunday, January 11, 2015, in a total estimated amount of Two Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($2,200.00). Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. REASONS: Chabad Russian Center hosted a Ground Breaking Ceremony for their project on Sunday, January 11, 2015. Due to the number of guests and the location and condition of their site, it was necessary for them to use the City operated parking lot adjacent to Bella Vista Bay Park. This resulted in the loss of potential revenue for those parking spaces. Also requested to be waived were the following: the special event permit fee of $1,650.00, police services of $400, and estimated electrical expenses of $50. Total requested in-kind donation to Chabad Russian Center is $2,200 inclusive of the estimated $100 lost revenue due to their use of the parking lot. FUNDING SOURCE: The electrical expense will be paid from the Electrical line item in the Parks Budget.
