RE: Keyto the City Presented to the Archdiocese of Miami
RECOMMENDATION:
This item is presented foryour consideration.
REASONS:
The Archdiocese of Miami has maintained a longstanding and significant presence in South Florida,
providing decades of service through its educational institutions, charitable initiatives, community
outreach, and programs benefiting individuals and families throughout the region. The Archdiocese
also has a direct and enduring connection to the City of Sunny Isles Beach through St. Mary Magdalen
Catholic Parish, which has served the local community since the 1950s and has supported outreach
initiatives addressing the needs of residents, including seniors and families. The parish is also associated
with the establishment of Marian Towers, which provides affordable housing for senior residents. These
longstanding contributions and the Archdiocese's meaningful connection to the Sunny Isles Beach
community are consistent with the City's criteria for issuance of a Key to the City.
