HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2026-4080RESOLUTION NO 2026 - `REV A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING SEPTEMBER 15, 2026, AS CENTRAL AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ISSUE THE PROCLAMATION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, September 15, 2026, marks the 205th anniversary of the declaration of independence from Spain of the territories now comprising Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua; and WHEREAS, Central American Independence Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the history and cultural heritage of these nations and recognize the contributions of people of Central American descent; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to commemorate this occasion by approving the issuance of a proclamation recognizing September 15, 2026, as Central American Independence Day in the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the issuance of a proclamation recognizing September 15, 2026, as Central American Independence Day, in substantially the form attached hereto as Exhibit "A." Section 2. Authorization of Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and issue the proclamation on behalf of the City. Section 3. Effective Date. Now THEREFORE, DO I, LARmA SvECHIN, as Mayor, and on behalf of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, hereby proclaim the September 15, 2026, as "Central American Independence Day" in the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
