The Planning and Landscape Architecture Group was awarded $10,000 as an internal Atkins Project Enhancement Initiative. The purpose of these initiative was to encourage the implementation of new technologies into conventional approaches to the providing of professional services to all of its clients. The 3R System was developed by a group of its certified parks and recreational planners, land planners, landscape architects and GIS programmers and technicians and is comprised of three modules, the first module, called REVIEW, uses GIS Arc Pad technology to collect information in the field at each of the park sites. Information is assessed both quantitatively and qualitatively for each of the recreational components that compose a park. The second module is RESPOND, which uses the Internet to survey the residents of the community to determine user preferences and needs. The survey participants are then geo-referenced into the GIS database to identify which area of the community is providing input. The last planning module is called REMAP. This module receives the information from the REVIEW and RESPOND modules and places it into a database. This allows Arc View to develop queries and graphic displays that identify the shortfalls of recreational facilities and their location within the system. When complete, this information becomes the planning source for the determination of levels of service and assists the city in allocation of tax dollars and comprehensive plan updates. 1 e 1 t 0006.027944 0 512 Atkins I City of Sunny Isles Beach, RFQ No. 12-04-02 Landscape Architecture I 3-19 1 1 Education John Boudreau, RLA B.L.A., Landscape Architecture, State University Design Guidelines of New York(SUNY)at Syracuse University John Boudreau brings 27 years of planning and urban design, landscape architecture, Registrations/Licenses streetscape, and project management experience for a diverse range and scale of urban Registered Landscape projects throughout the southeastern United States. (Atkins) does not track terminated contracts for cause or default—or for convenience for that matter. Based on that fact, and the fact that Atkins North America, Inc., is a company with 70 offices and thousands of active contracts, Atkins cannot certify with 100 percent accuracy that within the last five years that one of its contracts has not been terminated under these circumstances. Additional information for Item 19.3: Atkins is a nationwide firm and like all professional firms in this litigious society, has been involved in claims and suits over the past 52 years. The vast majority of these have been filed by third parties against multiple defendants with Atkins being one of those named. Several suits were counterclaims where Atkins has initiated actions to collect fees. None of these suits, if decided against Atkins, would impair its ability to meet its financial obligations. We consider any further details to be confidential and privileged and should be disclosed under carefully controlled circumstances as the settlement agreements mandate this.
