A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN IN-KIND
DONATION TO THE NORTH MIAMI BEACH LITTLE LEAGUE IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($5,500.00) FOR USE OF THE CHIEF FRED MAAS
BASEBALL FIELD TO PROVIDE A RECREATIONAL BASEBALL
PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION:
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is committed to providing a variety of quality
recreational opportunities to our community; and
WHEREAS, the North Miami Beach Little League and Sunny Isles Beach are dedicated
to activities that benefit the children of the Sunny Isles Beach community; and
WHEREAS, the North Miami Beach Little League organization has requested use of the
Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field to provide a recreational baseball program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is dedicated to supporting these activities
with an in-kind donation for the use of the field, as well as City personnel to assist in these sport
activities, in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($5,500.00) based on
their requested schedule.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Donation. The City Commission hereby approves the in-kind
donation to the North Miami Beach Little League for use of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field
located at Pelican Community Park, and City personnel assisting in these sport activities, in an
amount not to exceed Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($5,500.00).
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective tit,: .a option.

RE In-Kind Donation to North Miami Beach Little League for
Use of the Baseball Field
RECOMMENDATION:
This resolution is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
North Miami Beach Little League, a non-profit organization, provides a
youth baseball program to the residents of Sunny Isles Beach as well
as neighboring communities. In an effort to keep registration fees
reasonable for all children to participate, the League relies on the use of
baseball fields from these communities at no cost. An added benefit is
that Sunny Isles Beach players have a home field and can participate
more easily.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The estimated value of the free use of the baseball field for the duration
of the season based on the requested schedule is $5,132.00. We
request an in-kind donation of free use of the baseball field up to
$5,500.00 to allow for any additional practices or games that may get
scheduled outside of the initial request.
