Description of the scope of work: Pinecrest Parkway/
US-1 is the main thoroughfare through the Village of
Pinecrest. The directive from the Village of Pinecrest was
to design streetscape enhancements in order to create a
more appealing destination through the introduction of
attractive gateway features, a sustainable median land-
scape design, decorative crosswalks, irrigation and land-
scape lighting. The landscape palette includes native
pines that that are a symbol of the splendor and history
of the Village of Pinecrest, native shade trees, flowering
trees and shrubs. The introduction of gateway features
serve as markers to elegantly introduce visitors to the
Village, while also serving as unique works of public art.
Total Estimated Cost of project: $3,000,000

Description of the scope of work: Kendall Drive/SW
88th Street . The directive from the Village of Pinecrest

Aventura Boulevard Streetscape &
Entrance Feature
Aventura, Florida
Client name: City of Aventura
Description of the scope of work: The directive from
the City of Aventura was to develop a Landscape Master
Plan for the entire City of Aventura. A part of this plan
included the streetscape design for Aventura Boulevard,
a main gateway into the Citfy. The landscape concept
included new custom street lighting, new custom street
furniture including bus shelters, benches, and trash re-
ceptacles; landscape lighting, xeriscape irrigation; illumi-
nated street signs and landscaping. The landscape pal-
ette included Majestic Date Palms and graceful Coconut
Palms in the median, with Live Oak trees shading the
pedestrian walkways in the swales. The medians were
accented with evergreen groundcover in the center and
flowering seasonal color at the ends.

Palmetto Bay Municipal Center
Village of Palmetto Bay, Florida
Client name: Village of Palmetto Bay
Description of the scope of work: The net- zero
Palmetto Bay Municipal Center is the first LEED Plati-
num municipal building in Florida. The 2 story 24,000
sf center sits on 3.3 acres and houses the police sta-
tion, building dept., offices and council chambers.
Practicing fundamental principles of urban design and
public space planning, ORDA strived to create a walka-
ble urban environment for the Village’s new civic cen-
ter. The Bismark palm court acts as the main connector
between the parking facilities to the East and the Palm
plaza, the project’s formal entrance plaza featuring
works from the Village’s collection of Art in Public Plac-
es program. The Palm plaza features a bold and vivid
geometric palm leaf motif enclosed by a collection of
stately Canary Island Date Palms which frame the plaza
and building entrances. The sustainable landscape in-
cludes native and indigenous drought tolerant plant
material and the irrigation system is fed from a cistern
that collects water from the permeable paving system.

Client name: Town of Golden Beach
Description of the scope of work: The Town of
Golden Beach commissioned ORDA to master plan
three neighborhood parks. North Park, an active 2
acre park with a play field, gazebo, jogging path and
fitness equipment serves as the Town’s main open
space for play. South Park, a passive 2 acre park is
an oasis of tropical flora with flowering trees, shrubs,
native palms and grasses. South Park houses a trellis
for staging performances, a jogging path with fitness
equipment in a tranquil garden setting. Singer Park is
a pocket park with a coral rock water wall that buffers
the view of transformers and an intimate plaza sur-
rounded by tropical vegetation.

Description of the scope of work: Downtown Dor-
al park is a new 3 acre park located in the center of
the new Downtown Doral, a proposed urban center in
the heart of the city. The park consists of playground
areas, a civic court, a new open air covered pavilion,
and a wide variety of trees and groundcover. Fronting
the park to the north is the new City Hall. The design
of the park provides an appropriate foreground to this
important civic building.

Description of the scope of work: Evelyn Greer Park
is an active 10 acre park in the Village of Pinecrest.
Amenities within this park include multi-purpose athletic
fields (softball and soccer), batting cages, a tot lot, a
recreation center and community gazebo. This park is
one of the most highly utilized parks in South Dade and
was highlighted as one of the best playgrounds in South
Florida by Parenting Magazine in 2005. This project was
completed on time and within budget.

extensive municipal experience to provide its clients with exceptional professional landscape architectural
services that includes the completion of hundreds of projects within established budgets and time sched-
ules. We have had the opportunity of serving numerous municipalities and governmental agencies such
as the Village of Pinecrest, City of Doral, City of Miami Beach, City of Coral Springs, City of Sunny Isles
Beach, FDOT, Miami-Dade County Parks & Recreation, City of Miami, Village of Palmetto Bay, Village of
Key Biscayne, Town of Bay Harbor Islands and the City of Coral Gables, to name a few. In addition, we
have served as the Landscape Architectural Consultant to the Village of Bal Harbour for over 30 years,
the City of Aventura over 20 years and the Town of Golden Beach for the past 5 years and are extremely
familiar with the unique environmental issues associated with South Florida coastal areas.

We have completed numerous projects for local municipalities within FDOT right-of-ways which require
securing of permits and interface with the FDOT. Some of these projects include SR 5/Collins Avenue
Streetscape in Bal Harbour; Crandon Boulevard Landscaping in Key Biscayne; SR 826/Sunny Isles Boule-
vard and SR A1A/Collins Avenue in Sunny Isles Beach; Kennedy Causeway/NW 79th Street Median Land-
scaping in North Bay Village, Florida; US 1 from SW 136th St. to SW 80th St. in the Village of Pinecrest;
SR 5/Biscayne Boulevard from NE 172nd Street to NE 214th Street in Aventura; and Miracle Mile in Coral
Gables, Florida, to name a few. We recently completed three parks for the Town of Golden Beach and
won an award of excellence for paving design from NCMA for the Palmetto Bay Municipal Center where
we master planned the open space, prepared construction documents and assisted in LEED certification.
The key professionals at ORDA have over 125 years of combined experience in all required responsibili-
ties requested by the City of Sunny Isles Beach. We have extensive experience with numerous munici-
palities and agencies in the preparation of landscape drawings, construction documents and specifica-
tions, site master planning, analysis, urban design and open space planning. We have prepared design
guidelines for the City of Aventura and have performed peer review analysis for Aventura, Sunny Isles
Beach and the Florida Department of Transportation. In addition to landscape architectural design and
planning, we specialize in assisting municipalities monitor their landscape maintenance by providing
maintenance inspections and reports, meeting with the maintenance contractor, and providing solutions
to everyday problems that occur. ORDA has full cad capabilities and computer graphic technology with
knowledge of the latest cad techniques.
Kathryn O'Leary Richards, ASLA, is President of ORDA with over 31 years of experience as a Landscape
Architect in South Florida and has been the design principle for a multitude of successful civic and public
projects. Under Kathy’s technical and administrative guidance, there have been numerous successful pro-
jects that were built on time and within budget. She is a LEED accredited professional and an ISA certi-
fied arborist who promotes environmentally sensitive approaches and her leadership skills ensure quality
as she oversees the execution of major projects. She is currently the landscape plans reviewer for the
City of Aventura, City of Sunny Isles Beach and the Town of Golden Beach. Bill O’Leary, FASLA, has
practiced as a Landscape Architect in South Florida for over 50 years, is a fellow of the American Society
of Landscape Architects and is widely considered a leader in his field. He founded the firm that has
evolved into ORDA in 1969. His experience includes being the Landscape Architectural Consultant to nu-
merous municipalities and FDOT for several years. He has been the Landscape Architectural Consultant
to the Village of Bal Harbour for over 30 years which is a testament of our dedication to our clients.

Carlos Somoza has practiced landscape architecture for over 19 years and is an advocate of quality de-
sign. Carlos has built a solid reputation as a lead designer and has worked closely with public officials
and allied professionals to support all phases of landscape architecture. He recently completed the Pal-
metto Bay Municipal Center where he was the lead designer. Kevin Richards has over 18 years of expe-
rience in construction management in the South Florida area and has managed several governmental
and commercial projects. His experience includes working for the Miami-Dade County Parks Department
and he has extensive knowledge in construction administration, cost estimating, critical path project or-
ganization and quality control. Kevin brings a depth to the ORDA team with his construction expertise.
ORDA is pleased to announce that Alvarez Engineers, a Miami based engineering firm, will provide us
with professional engineering services. Alvarez Engineers will provide all necessary support personnel in
the areas of utility coordination, MOT plans, electrical and civil engineering services, permitting, quality
control and any other support required throughout the duration of the project. Their staff has extensive
training in all phases of design and their proficiency in the local codes and requirements allows them to
move projects forward steadily to completion. Tom Graboski & Associates, a Miami based graphic de-
sign firm, will provide us with environmental signage and graphic design. If the need arises for horticul-
tural expertise, ORDA has a strategic alliance with Lisa Hammer, Horticultural Consultant. The team has
a long standing relationship with numerous projects successfully completed together and are currently
working on the US-1/Pinecrest Parkway Beautification Project.
Past Performance on Public Projects
ORDA is extremely proud of its record of performance with public agencies. In order to achieve contin-
ued success, the firm places extreme importance on the management and control of each project. As a
testament to our commitment to our clients, ORDA has been serving as the Landscape Architectural
Consultant to the City of Aventura since its inception in 1995 performing tasks such as site plan review,
permit review and inspections, park design, streetscape design, irrigation design, maintenance specifica-
tions and schedules, landscape code review and modification, landscape studies, tree surveys, mainte-
nance monitoring including analysis and evaluation of existing landscape conditions and recommenda-
tions for improvements. Throughout our 40+ year partnerships with local architects, engineers, horticul-
turists, and municipalities we have been able to create successful, urban spaces for South Florida com-
munities. Our most recent projects include the design of Pinecrest Parkway, a four mile FDOT roadway
for the Village of Pinecrest, three community parks, entrance and beach pavilion for the Town of Golden
Beach, an urban plaza and civic green for the Village of Palmetto Bay and a city center park for the City
of Doral. As designers passionate about detail and aesthetics, we strive for beauty in each of our pro-
jects and design with an intimate understanding that the long-term sustainability of every component

Alvarez Engineers, Inc. is a Miami-Dade County based professional
engineering firm specializing in all phases of design especially in
the areas of civil and electrical engineering. Since their inception
in 1995, they have experienced continued success with state and
local agencies. They will supply us with all necessary support per-
sonnel in the areas of utility coordination, maintenance of traffic,
civil and electrical engineering services and quality control. Their
staff has extensive training in all phases of design and their profi-
ciency in FDOT design requirements and project procedures allows
them to move projects forward steadily to completion. ORDA and
Alvarez Engineers have collaborated on several projects and most
recently completed the conceptual design for gateway features
along US-1 in Pinecrest and worked on the first phase of the Col-
lins Avenue streetscape in the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
If the need arises for horticultural expertise, ORDA has a strategic
alliance with Lisa Hammer, Horticultural Consultant. Lisa has over
34 years of professional experience in South Florida horticulture
and is a registered Consulting Arborist (RCA #333) and a certified
Arborist (SO#0758). She is a native Miamian and a former agent
with the Florida Cooperative Extension Service in Urban Horticul-
ture and is one of the most respected Horticultural Consultants in
South Florida. ORDA and Lisa Hammer have collaborated on sever-
al projects and most recently completed a tree inventory and anal-
ysis for the City of Doral.
Tom Graboski Associate, Inc. is a 30 year old internationally known
environmental signage and graphic design firm located in Miami-
Dade County. Their diverse staff brings extensive experience in
wayfinding, environmental signage, urban design, art and brand
identity to each project. Their multifaceted strengths, back-
grounds and the use of the latest digital technology enable tgade-
sign to develop consistently innovative designs. Their extensive
knowledge of traditional and cutting edge materials and fabrication
processes enables them to create design solutions for every con-
tingency and every environment. ORDA and tgadesign have col-
laborated on numerous projects and are currently working on the
branding for the Village of Pinecrest.

O’Leary Richards Design has structured a team for this contract whose members are not only experts
in their respective fields, but who approach their work with innovation and state-of-the-art technology.
They also have extensive local experience working with municipalities and agencies in South Florida.
Our team is prepared to respond to the contract demands quickly and effectively with professionals
