The Landscape Architecture department was created in response to increased public and private concern for natural systems, environmental quality and community appearance. CTA has been actively engaged in Landscape Architecture ever since, resulting in hundreds of impressive master planning and landscape architectural projects in South Florida. Our Landscape Architects are readily available to provide services to conduct site planning for the initial conceptual planning stages of a project, as well as the landscape, hardscape, site amenity and irrigation plans. Over the years, and through scores of a wide variety of governmental projects, CTA has gained an invaluable skill set and extensive experience in providing quality professional services for an enormous diversity of projects for a variety of municipalities. These projects have ranged in size and complexity from small, single-task assignments to large, multi-scaled projects involving numerous sub- consultants and/or specialized services. CTA was the Landscape Architect for the design of approximately 70 miles of Greenways through Broward County. These included the C-14 Canal/Cypress Creek Greenway, New River/SR 84 Greenway, Flamingo Road Trail, Dixie Highway/FEC Trail and the Griffin/Orange Drive Greenway. Our many other projects include master plans, design, permitting and construction services for streetscapes, median landscaping and hardscape, right-of-way enhancements, active and passive parks, landscape and hardscape for libraries, community centers, fire stations, city halls, and many other municipal facilities. The streetscape projects have involved extensive coordination with residents, City staff, engineers and grant funding agencies to bring about the project’s success. There are many components within the project requiring coordination and community / stakeholder input that must be carefully coordinated and programmed into the design and project schedule to meet expectations. In addition, we design the streetscape elements in harmony with the existing neighborhood architecture and accentuate the positive themes of the area. 4 ǀ Page 2 CRAVEN THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC. | 3563 NW 53rd STREET, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33309 | P 954.739.6400 TAB 4 - BACKGROUND AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH - REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS NO. 16-06-02 CTA’s active park design, permitting, and construction experience involves preparing design documents that include sports fields, path systems, exercise trails, vehicular circulation, storm water detention, play areas, visitor facilities and interpretive signage. Our passive park projects incorporate elements, including a number of nature trails, picnic areas, and gathering spaces that take advantage of existing natural features. Passive parks can also act as social spaces for people to interact. The maintaining of natural green space is not only environmentally important, but moreover, is much less costly from a maintenance perspective. Our landscape architecture creates master plans, designs for public facilities such as libraries, community centers, city halls and other municipal facilities promote the building architecture and emphasize the character of the surrounding neighborhood. We consider that a building is not an invasion of the landscape but a vital extension of it. Where a building rests on the land, and how it rests on the land, sets the context for its evolving construction, development, and use. Planning CTA has been actively engaged in Land Planning since the creation of the firm. We believe time is an important ingredient for any project, and proper planning minimizes the time in executing a project. We are prepared to provide land planning services in a professional manner to move projects to the design, approval and construction stage in the shortest possible time. One of the challenges that we have faced is working with municipalities that are dealing with small or decreasing budgets. Our work in the City of Miami Gardens is an example of this. We have accommodated the City by preparing Design Reports and initial studies with budgets that are broken down into manageable phases. Construction can then proceed with portions that can be funded within the available budget. Civil/Transportation Engineering We offer a wide range of Civil Engineering capabilities that we coordinate with our Planners, Surveyors and Landscape Architects, to provide a total capability, from site evaluation to a completed project. We take pride in our ability as "Problem Solvers". A large portion of our engineering group’s activities and efforts are devoted to the planning, and design of various street projects. This includes preparing plans, calculations, and specifications, permitting, conducting the necessary public meetings and hearings, bidding projects, coordinating the acquisition of easements as necessary for the construction of the project, coordinating and accommodating adjacent with stakeholders, inspecting the construction, performing contract administration for the construction, final certification and grant administration when applicable. CTA has provided services as prime consultant for LAP Projects for the City of Aventura (Exercise 4 ǀ Page 3 CRAVEN THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC. | 3563 NW 53rd STREET, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33309 | P 954.739.6400 TAB 4 - BACKGROUND AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH - REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS NO. 16-06-02 Path Project, Biscayne Boulevard Lighting, & Yacht Club Bridge), for the City of Oakland Park (NE 5th Avenue, NE 34th Court, and NE 38th Street), and for the City of Miami Gardens (Resurfacing and ADA Walk Improvement Project). We provide Civil Engineering Services for the following types of projects: Storm Drainage, ADA Sidewalk Considerations, Alternative Water Quality Design, Roadway Design, Traffic Calming Enhancements, Domestic Water Distribution, Sanitary Sewer Collection and Transmission Systems, Utility Relocation Coordination, Permitting, Utility Investigations, Due Diligence, Reports and Construction Services. We provide all aspects of Land Development design, permitting and construction and most Municipal Capital Improvements. Surveying Providing Surveying services has been, and continues to be, an important portion of CTA’s business. Through selection and training of personnel and a program to obtain the best equipment available, we have developed a skilled and technically equipped Surveying Department, capable of conducting almost any type of survey. We are qualified and certified by the State of Florida, Department of Natural Resources, for both horizontal and vertical control for Second Order, accuracy. In addition to conventional boundary topographic and construction surveys, we have the experience to provide the latest in 3D Laser Scanning - High Definition Surveying, Geodetic Control, PLSS Retracement, Hydrographic, Cadastral, Photogrammetric Control, Right-of-Way and Construction Surveys. We also have personnel and equipment to determine tidal datum’s and water boundary lines and can provide expert witness testimony. Through the utilization of our Global Positioning System, 3D Laser Scanner and total stations with state-of-the-art data collectors, our survey data can be imported into a CADD environment which can be plotted or transferred to our clients via e-mail or on CD/DVD. Craven Thompson continues to refine and adapt CADD and GIS to a broad spectrum of uses. This blend of high technology with personalized service forms the core of every CTA project. CTA’s equipment includes the Hydrolite- TM for its portability and Hydrographic survey solutions. We find that the use of this product provides us with flexibility for getting into areas that require smaller more versatile boats and still provides the accuracy from our Trimble Survey grade receivers. CTA provides leadership in the surveying industry by providing educational opportunities to its employees and supporting the Florida Society of Professional Land Surveyors State and Local Chapters. We have had five Chapter Presidents, three State Presidents and three Directors. Our personnel have served on numerous committees and have provided Chairmen to twelve major State Committees. CTA is dedicated to providing quality surveys and is meeting the challenge of today's changing times by innovative techniques that not only reduce the cost of field and office work, but increase the accuracy over the methods previously accepted in the industry. 4 ǀ Page 4 CRAVEN THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC. | 3563 NW 53rd STREET, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33309 | P 954.739.6400 TAB 4 - BACKGROUND AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH - REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS NO. 16-06-02 ORGANIZATIONAL CHART Joseph D. Recently, the first back-of-house parking lot was completed. This design concept is geared towards creating a main street in downtown Davie to accentuate an urban setting through the town. Instead of the current pull in parking and large driveway openings, which present a hazardous situation for pedestrians, we are trying to create safe and comfortable pedestrian corridors. With large dining patios, landscape strips, site furnishings and the addition of on- street parallel parking, we are taking blighted old buildings and presenting them an opportunity for a facelift. Hopefully with these updates it will help bring additional development into the area. 25. FIRMS FROM SECTION C INVOLVED WITH THIS PROJECT a. (1) FIRM NAME Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 30 . PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUESTED BY THE AGENCY. ATTACH ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED. Craven Thompson streetscape projects have involved extensive coordination with residents, City staff, engineers and grant funding agencies to bring about the project's success. There are many components within the project requiring coordination and community / stakeholder input that must be carefully coordinated and programmed into the design and project schedule to meet expectations. In addition, we design the streetscape elements in harmony with the existing neighborhood architecture and accentuate the positive themes of the area. CTA's active park design, permitting, and construction experience involves preparing design documents that include sports fields, path systems, exercise trails, vehicular circulation, storm water detention, play areas, visitor facilities and interpretive signage . Our landscape architecture creates master plans, designs for public facilities such as libraries, community centers, city halls and other mun icipal facilities promote the building architecture and emphasize the character of the surrounding neighborhood. We consider that a building is not an invasion of the landscape but a vital extension of it. Where a building rests on the land, and how it rests on the land, sets the context for its evolving construction, development, and use. CTA presents many distinct and unique advantages which will assure timely and cost effective completion of projects. These advantages include the following: • An experienced team: CTA staff has extensive experience with various types of unusual and difficult projects. • Full service firm : CTA can provide all of the landscape architecture, planning civil engineering, GIS and construction support services needed in -house. • Project management: Organization lines and responsibilities are clearly defined for each project, ensuring that the best qualified individual is matched to a particular assignment. • Familiarity with South Florida agencies and landscape architectural practices. • Continuity: The Resources and staff available at CTA ensure responsive service and continuity throughout all phases of projects.
