RESOLUTION NO. 98-~_
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO FILE
AN APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA
COMMUNITIES TRUST; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THE GRANT AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DA TK
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is in need of public parks to provide its citizens
with parks and recreation areas and ocean front access; and
WHEREAS, the City has began to negotiate with several property owners in an attempt to
purchase one or more ocean front lots for such purposes; and
WHEREAS, The Florida Communities Trust will be accepting grant applications from
municipalities to grant monies for the purchase of such parks, permits, challenge grants;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to file an application for a grant from the Florida
Communities Trust to facilitate the City's effort to purchase park land for and on behalf of
its citizens.
2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any and all such documents relating to the grant.
3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage.

Subject: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MANAGER TO FILE A GRANT APPLICATION
WITH THE FLORIDA COMMUNITIES TRUST FOR PARK LANDS
ACQUISITION.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt, by Resolution, authorizing the City Manger to
apply to the Florida Communities Trust for park land acquisition funds.
REASONS
We are advised by the State that there are approximately $50,660,000 dollars set aside for the
acquisition of park lands. Competition for these grant funds are statewide. If the application is
successful, it will likely provide a portion of the cost of purchasing beach front property.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The application must be submitted no later than April 27, 1998.
