Home My WebLink AboutReso 99-128 RESOLUTION NO. 99-ni A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO ISSUE A PARKING LOT LEASE AGREEMENT TO THE CITY. WHEREAS, the City wishes to operate and maintain at its own expense, the public parking lots currently maintained by Miami-Dade County and described on the attachments, and as parcel No. 6000 and 6001; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to regulate hours of parking lot use and may, at its option, install parking meters and; WHEREAS, the City agrees that the parking lots will be used for parking purposes by individuals going to the public beaches and other places in the areas. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1, The City hereby respectfully requests the Florida Department of Transportation to issue a lease agreement to parking facilities for public use without monetary consideration. Section 2. The City Manager is requested to return a proposed lease agreement to the City Commission as soon as practical. Section 3. Dannheisser City Attorney RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Commission adopt, by motion, the attached resolution calling upon the State Department of Transportation to provide a lease agreement to Sunny Isles Beach for the William Lehman Causeway area parking lots. REASONS Alberto Villareal, FDOT Right of Way Administrator, has requested that the City issue a general resolution of intent prior to the State drafting the proposed leased agreement. Accordingly, the attached resolution complies with the State's request. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The lease agreement is anticipated to provide the City with full control over parking lot hours of operation and the authority to install parking meters at the City's expense.
