RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER IN ACCORDANCE WITH ORDINANCE 97-
10 TO PURCHASE A STREET SWEEPER IN THE AMOUNT
OF $73,000.00, ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Mayor's and the City Commission's desire to maintain
and beautify the various rights -of -way within the City; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase a street sweeper in order to maintain such rights -
of -way in a sanitary condition to preserve the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of Sunny Isles
Beach;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Authorization to purchase. The City Manager, as chief purchasing agent and in accordance
with the terms of Ordinance 97-10, is hereby authorized to purchase a Regenerative Air
Power Street Sweeper, according to the specifications attached hereto as Exhibit "A", in the
amount of Seventy-three Thousand Dollars ($73,000.00)
2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission authorize a street sweeper purchase, from
Souther Sewer Equipment Sales, Fort Pierce, FL, for a Schwarze A 4000 Street
Sweeper, with an extra set of gutter brooms, for a total purchase price of S73,000.00
REASONS
The vendor and factory have agreed to supply the street sweeper at the same
S73,000.00 cost paid by Fairfax Oklahoma, one year ago. As documented, the
machine sold to two other entities at higher costs. The recommended Schwarze A4000
Street Sweeper was street tested by the City staff and compared to the TYMCO 210,
produced by another manufacturer. As shown on the attached report, the Schwarze
A4000 judged superior on specification and field testing. The Mayor and Manager
then jointly negotiated with the vendor the S73,000.00 suggested price, after we
rejected their proposal of S74,525.00.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The A4000 is currently parked in the City storage area. If the Commission authorizes
the street sweeper purchase, City logo and striping will be added, with street sweeping
service commencing in May 1999. Sufficient monies are included in the City's
amended 1998-99 Storm Water Budget for this purpose.

Re: Piggyback for SCHWARZE A4000 Street Sweeper
Dear Mr. Pushkin,
This letter is to certify that Southern Sewer Equipment Sales will honor an order from the City of
Sunny Isles Beach for one new SCHWARZE A 4000 street sweeper. This order will be based on
the Town of Fairfax, Ok. public bid and purchase order for a like unit in the amount of
$73,000.00 The sweeper will be new with a full 12 months/1200 hour warranty. The skid plates
on the vacuum head carry a 2000 hour warranty.
Southern Sewer Equipment Sales is located in Fort Pierce and offers on site service in the city
yard via one of our two mobile service units. SCHWARZE guarantees 48 hour parts delivery if
the needed item is not in our inventory in Fort Pierce.
