RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING STREET PAVING FOR
GOLDEN SHORES AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
MAKE AND ENTER INTO A CONTRACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
WITH H&R PAVING, BASED UPON A COUNTY BID ATTACHED
HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A", IN THE AMOUNT OF SIXTY-ONE
THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED FORTY-THREE AND 56/100 ($619643.56)
DOLLARS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Commission desire that the City of Sunny Isles Beach
beautify and improve various rights -of -way within the City; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission, in an effort to maintain the health, welfare
and beauty of the City, desire to pave the streets of Golden Shores; and
WHEREAS, H & R Paving, based on a county bid, has agreed to pave the streets of Golden
Shores for the amount of Sixty -One Thousand Six Hundred Forty -Three and 56/100 ($61,643.56)
Dollars, which bid has been reviewed by the staff of the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach wish to
authorize the City Manager and his staff to make and enter into a contract with H & R Paving on
behalf of the City of Sunny Isles Beach;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, that:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the streets of Golden Shores to be
paved and the City Manager is hereby authorized to make and enter into a formal contract on behalf
of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, with H & R Paving, based upon a county bid attached hereto as
Exhibit "A", in the amount of Sixty -One Thousand Six Hundred Forty-three and 56/100
($61,643.56) Dollars to pave the streets of Golden Shores.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

of Florida, acting by and through the BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIORMS, party of the
first part, and H fi R Paving, Inc.- 1955 W 110 Avenue - Miami crida 33172

agree as follows:
Article 1. SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall furnish all plant, labor, materials
and equipment and perform all the necessary work in the manner and form provided by
the Contract Documents for the construction of: Resurfacing - Contract No. 44

hrt cle 2. CONTRACT SUM: The county shall pay to the Contractor, for the faithful
performance of the Contract, in lawful money of the United States of America, and
subject to the additions and deductions as provided in the Contract Documents, a
total sum as follows:
Based on the Contract prices shown in the Proposal heretofore submitted to the
County, a copy of said proposal being a part of the Contract Documents, the
aggregate amount of this Contract (obtained from either the lump sus price,
the application of unit prices to the quantities shown in the proposal or the
combination of both) being the sum of
Nine Hundred Forty -Six Thousand Four Hundred Ninety - Eight Dollars And
Thirteen Cents ($9J66,,498.13
Article 3. PAYm$NTS: Within thirty days after the effective date as set forth in the
"Notice to Proceed with Contract Work", and each month thereafter, the Engineer will
estimate the value of the work done and within twenty days after the submittal of the
Properly executed estimate, the value thus determined, less previous payments, shall
be paid to the Contractor. After 75% of the Contract work (original Contract amount
including any adjustments made by Change Orders) has been completed as estimated by
the Engineer, 90% of the value thus determined, leas previous payments f-or the value
of the work exceeding 75% of the Contract work, shall be paid to the Contractor.
Upon completion of the entire work involved in this. Contract, and upon acceptance
thereof in writing by the Engineer and by the County, the balance due the Contractor
for the entire work shall be paid.
The provisions of the Supplemental General Conditions when applicable and if in
conflict with this article take precedent over the conditions of this article.

SUBJECT: Re -paving of Golden Shores
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission award to H & R Paving, INC. the
amount of $63,303.46 for paving of the streets in Golden Shores.
REASONS
The Public Works Department obtained from Miami -Dade County DERM their
engineering estimate of the tonnage of asphalt needed to re -pave Golden Shores
streets. The'department then obtained the county's bid list for this type of paving.
The department also solicited a bid from the contractor doing the stormwater
project in Golden Shores. The stormwater contractor bid $89,250.00 and H & R
Paving county bid was $61,643.56. There is an additional charge of $1,659.90
for striping of the 22 intersections after the paving is done. The total amount that
the Public Works Department is seeking Commission approval for is $63,303.46.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
H & R Paving has completed various paving projects for the county and I have
not found nor heard of any adverse comments concerning their work.
