HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 99-158RESOLUTION NO.99-1 S1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND $9,352.00 FROM THE FEDERAL DRUG CONTROL AND SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANT AVAILABLE THROUGH MIAMI-DADE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AND TO EXECUTE AGREEMENTS WITH THE PURPOSE OF CREATING A BUSINESS SECURITY PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, funds are available to the City of Sunny Isles Beach from the Miami -Dade Department of Human Services; and WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has been given a preliminary approval of grant funds totaling $9,352.00, in order to purchase equipment and community crime prevention tools along with overtime monies for crime prevention police officer to attend and organize such meetings within the City of Sunny Isles Beach; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: 1. Authorization to the Cijy Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply. for, receive and expend $9,352.00 of grant monies available through the Federal Drug Control and System Improvement Program from the Miami -Dade Department of Human Services. 2. Other Agreements. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute such contracts and agreements as may be required to further the purposes described in the funding request following approval by the City Attorney and without further action by this Commission. 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. REASONS: The City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has been given a preliminary ap- proval of grants funds totaling S9,352.00 in order to purchase equipment and com- munity crime prevention tools along with furnish overtime monies for a crime pre- vention officer to attend and organize crime prevention meetings within the City of Sunny Isles Beach. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: These meetings will result in citizens of Sunny Isles Beach becoming more familiar with it's police department, react and response to safety hazards, and business se- curity issues for the local businesses and hotels.
