WHEREAS, the Property Appraiser of Miami -Dade County, Florida, served upon the City of Sunny Isles Beach a "certification of 1998 taxable value"; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 200.065, F.S., the City of Sunny Isles Beach has furnished to the County Property Appraiser, the proposed millage rate, and the date, time and place at which public hearings were held to consider the proposed millage rate and tentative budget; WHEREAS, the Commission, by Resolution No. 99-156 established the proposed millage rate at 2.303 mils per one thousand; WHEREAS, the Commission established a millage rate by Resolution No. 99-156 prior to consideration of adoption of a proposed budget on September 16, 1999; and WHEREAS, while the "rolled back" rate was discussed (as evidenced by the minutes of that meeting), it was not included by the then City Manager in the title of Resolution No. 99-156 thereby necessitating this amendment; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT RESOLUTION No. 99-156 IS HEREBY AMENDED AS FOLLOWS: 17, . -I- PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 14'h day of October, 1999. Dannheisser City Attorney RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Commission adopt, by motion, the attached resolution which includes three lines of information that were inadvertently omitted from the original resolution submitted by the former City Manager. REASONS The Trim Bill"truth in millage" F.S. 200.065 requires that the resolution adopting the final millage includes the statement "any percentage greater than the rollback rate" must be included in the resolution. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Although, as evidenced by the minutes of the Public Hearing, the "rollback" was discussed, but the required language was not incorporated into the accompanying resolution. Adopting the attached resolution rectifies the situation. Res ctfully submitted, t " ' ° q' ack Neustadt, terim City Manager JN:pw RESOLUTION NO.99- I SE ) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING AND IMPOSING THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AD VALOREM TAX MILLAGE LEVY RATE AT 2.303 MILLS PER ONE THOUSAND ($1000) DOLLARS OF TAXABLE ASSESSED VALUE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Property Appraiser of Miami -Dade County, Florida, served upon the City of Sunny Isles Beach a "certification of 1999 taxable value"; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 200.065, F.S., the City of Sunny Isles Beach has famished to the County Property Appraiser, the proposed millage rate, and the date, time and place at which public hearings will be held to consider the tentative millage rate and tentative budget; WHEREAS, the Commission, by motion, agreed to establish the tentative millage rate at 2.303 mills per one thousand; WHEREAS, the Commission must first establish a final millage rate prior to consideration of adoption of a budget; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The final millage rate is hereby established and imposed as 2.303 per One Thousand ($1000) Dollars of assessed value of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Section 2, This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
