A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING AFTER-THE-FACT
AUTHORIZATION TO THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH TOTAL DATA SOLUTIONS AT A COST OF $49,759.38
FOR LAPTOP COMPUTERS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
ALLOWING FOR MINOR UPGRADING AND ADDITIONS.
WHEREAS, smce the mtroductIon of the police departments laptop computer systems, the
officers are able to run tags, send messages VIa cellular modem and are currently programmmg for
report wntmg abIlItles, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to a CIty CommIssIon motlon approvmg the contract WIth Total Data
SolutIOns for the purchase of eIght computer laptop systems on August 13, 1998, the system was
purchased,
WHEREAS, the police department's fundmg to purchase nme addItlonallaptop systems was
approved by the CIty manager and CIty CommISSIon by way of a budget approval wIthm the police
department's budget, and
WHEREAS, the CIty Manager approved the Irutlal budgeted cost of$45,603 00 for the rune
computer systems, and
WHEREAS, It was brought to the attentlon of the CIty Manager that the ongmal order had
an upgrade that became avaIlable and It was m the best mterest ofthe CIty to purchase the systems
WIth tills upgrade and the cost of the upgrade was $460 82 per system The CIty Manager agreed to
the upgrade of the computer systems
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SectIon 1 The CIty Manager IS hereby provIded after-the-fact authonzatlon to purchase rune
upgraded laptop computer systems from Total Data Solutions for a total cost of$49,759 38
Sectlon 2
ThIS resolutIOn shall be effectlve ImmedIately upon adoptIon
PASSED AND ADOPTED thIS 6th day of Apnl, 2000
