RESOLUTION NO. 2000-22k,
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN
THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AND J.A.M.
WELDING SERVICE INC., ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT "A", FOR REPLACEMENT OF IRON HINGES
WITH STAINLESS STEEL HINGES ON THE TWO (2)
FLAPPER VALVES IN THE DEEP WELL OF THE
GOLDEN SHORES STORMWATER PUMP STATION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, flapper valves are required in the Golden Shores Stormwater Pump Station
deep well to allow water to be pump into, but not flow back out from, the deep well; and
WHEREAS, the Stormwater System cannot operate properly without functioning flapper
valves, which have rusted open because of their iron construction; and
WHEREAS, replacing the existing iron flapper valves with stainless steel is a long-term,
efficient, and cost effective solution to this recurring problem; and
WHEREAS, out of the five (5) qualified contractors contacted, J.A.M Welding Service,
Inc. was the only contractor willing to provide services, outlined in Exhibit "A" attached hereto.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Contract. The contract by and between the City of Sunny Isles Beach
and J.A.M. Welding Service, Inc. in the amount of $12,300.00, attached hereto as Exhibit "A,"
be, and the same, is hereby approved.
Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
negotiate said contract as outline in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and do all things necessary to
effectuate the agreement.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
