A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
CONCEPTUAL PLAN FOR PLANTING OF THE MEDIANS ON
COLLINS AVENUE, COMMENCING JUNE 2000, ATTACHED
HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO MAKE IMMATERIAL AND INSUBSTANTIAL
CHANGES TO THE PLAN; CREATING A PLANT SELECTION
COMMITTEE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in December 1999 the Administration placed a moratorium on Collins
A venue median landscaping in anticipation ofthe forthcoming Streetscape Master Plan, and
WHEREAS, final construction drawings are not anticipated to be completed for several
months; and
WHEREAS, on May 18, 2000, via Resolution No. 2000-231, the City Commission
authorized the City Manager to expend up to $300,000 on interim Collins Avenue landscaping,
pending approval of a conceptual planting plan, and
WHEREAS, the Conceptual Collins Avenue Interim Landscaping Plan, attached hereto
as Exhibit "A", is presented for informational purposes and is subject to change at the discretion
of the City Manager, pending available type, size, quantity and quality of specimen plants.
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to create a committee to assist in the plant
selection for the Conceptual Plan.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Plan. The Conceptual Plan for planting of the medians on Collins
A venue, commencing June 2000, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" is hereby approved.
Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
make immaterial and insubstantial changes to the Plan.
Section 3. Creation of the Committee. The Commission has appointed the following
individuals to serve on the committee to assist in the plant selection for the Conceptual Plan: (1)
Vice Mayor Connie Morrow; (2) Assistant City Manager James DeCocq; (3) Allan Handis; (4)
Phillip Chernoff; (5) Director of Planning & Development, Marla Dumas: and (6) John Shepherd
(co-chairs James DeCocq and Marla Dumas).

Section 4.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
